Guest probio Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 (edited) Since the ZTE Light / V9 is a bigger version of ZTE Blade, I thought I could post here. Tried to root my ZTE V9 / Light, saved a channel1.nvm file as backup uing the program Sales_MultiDL_MSM7227_V1.00.01 However, something went wrong and my screen is black, except for a white line from top to bottom on the right side of the screen. The computer could still recognize the tablet when I plug it in, saying "Android Sooner Single ADB Interface". I can't get any further from the logo screen. Is it possible to "unbrick" the tablet? The computer could still recognize the tablet when I plug it in, saying "Android Sooner Single ADB Interface" Now the red power light turns on when I hold the power button, after a few seconds it turns off and the green Android logo appears. The message "Android Sooner Single ADB Interface" in file manager is not there anymore. I can't get any further from the logo screen. Is it possible to "unbrick" the tablet? exactly what did you do with the flashing program? at what point did your V9 stop responding? do you have access to mbn firmware files compatible with your device?
Guest probio Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 (edited) I was onto the last step of the flashing program, where you select your root files directory and download them. I don't remember exactly what I did, but when I clicked the "Start All" button, nothing seemed to happen. However, when clicking "Port config" in the menu, it said that the program was still running. But I couldn't see anything indicating that the files were downloaded to my ZTE V9. When I insert the cable, the tablet turns up as a removeable disk. But when I try to access the disk by double-clicking, it says "Insert disk in drive H:" (I translated, may not be exact words). Can't access the FTM screen either. Don't know about mbn firmware files, what they do and how to get them. I do have the backup file Channel1.nvm after using the program. Edited May 3, 2011 by probio

Is this program you are using more or less the same as the one here? Now you have a channel1.nvm file. your phone did not turn on after you successfully backed up that file? how big is the file? Just to check the obvious, you have taken the battery in and out? I don't know what could have gone wrong if you only backed up the file. If you tried to restore it, then I have some ideas. In action mode, I trust you selected backup NV?
Guest probio Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 (edited) Yes, the program looks about the same. Took out the battery now and inserted it again (have done this many times). Tried to hold the volume button while inserting the cable, and the computer now detected my unit as (DFU) COM7 (haven't been able to do that since before the "brick"). My Channel1.nvm file is 70 kB big. Don't know where to go next though... Tried to download again, now it worked! I probably interrupted the download by mistake last time. But my screen now shows "FTM", and nothing happens. What to do now? Edited May 3, 2011 by probio

If you were using a blade then DFU Mode could be useful because you could just reflash your phones firmware (mbn files I was talking about), but you would need to find firmware for the V9 and I don't know where. Hopefully your problem is more simple. Good luck.

Guest hedgepigdaniel Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 I downloaded the rooted files again. I probably interrupted the download by mistake last time. My screen now shows "FTM", and nothing happens. What to do now? what sort of files are these rooted files? FTM is the stock recovery mode (the manufacturers equivalent to clockworkmod).

Ok well those files are firmware files. The img files are what gets written to your phone's partitions. recovery.img holds recovery (thats where FTM is booting from). system.img holds the ROM - so that should be at least 50MB otherwise you don't have a ROM. If you have a ROM that you know you can flash in clockwork that will work, then I suggest the following: 1. download clockworkmod for your device (the .img file, not the zip file) 2. rename it to recovery.img and replace the recovery.img in those files 3. flash those files again The phone should now boot into clockworkmod. try to install a ROM.
