How to view photographs and other stuff on an external memory stick

Hello everybody. First time post here from a new Vega user.

I've had a look round the forums but can't find a specific answer (or an easy fix) to my question(s).

Here's the thing: I am a photographer and thought the Vega might be able to act as a photo viewer whilst on a shoot. I've tried plugging different cameras into the Vega (both on the device and via the dock) but it doesn't pick any of them up. No problem - I take the card out of the camera and use a card reader. The Vega picks this up but through ifilemanger you can only view one image at a time and it seems to take an age for each picture to load. What I want to do is: view multiple images, one after the other, as seemlessly as possible. I have tried moving images across to the device itself but get a 'file cannot be moved' message. Is there a photoviewer that will allow my to view images from an external usb? Failing that can I move a batch of images over to the Vega and use the Gallery. I'm fairly tech savvy but completely new to Android. I have the same problem with mp3 music files - you can do one at a time but I want to play multiple files one after the other. Obviously if I was at home it wouldn't be so much of an issue since I could transfer from my laptop, but I want to be able to do it 'in the field'.

I'm using the R8 mod from Paul that I got from this site. I understand the usb modes switching thing. Is there an easy solution to this (if possible I don't want to get into running scripts because as I say I'm new to Android and not, as yet, confident in that).

Thanks in advance everybody.

My D200 worked ok plug into the USB port on the device. I used PhotoSlides app from the market, unfortunately it's a pain as I couldn't work out how to get it to play a whole folder and have to select the files list manually, which took while there are a lot of pictures in the folder.

The built in picture viewer for ESExplorer app also worked ok, though it would not auto-rotate "Tall" pictures if you are in landscape.

You might try Corvus rom some of the USB issues I had with the r8 were fixed infuriated corvus roms.

The stock file manager is rubbish I don't use it at all astro, es file explorer, or root file explorer are the only ones that I actually use. Switching might fix the copying issue you could also try making a script that will automatically copy over usb contents to a specific folder that cabtheb be read with a photo viewing app .

BlueDot - you are my new best friend. Where were you when I was tearing my hair out all week...lol. ESExplorer is a decent work around - thanks so much for the tip. Will try Photoslides next :-)

There is an app called QuickPic on the market too which is very good for viewing photos from a USB drive. There is an option in it's settings to choose which folder(s) to look at which means you can point it at the \usbdisk folder and all your pictures show up.

With regard to moving pictures, I made a script that can do it about a week or so ago, it's somewhere on the forum. Search for it and it'll move all your pictures from USB to SDcard with a button press. I know you said you don't want to get into scripting, but the scripting is done, you've just gotta press the button ^^

That way, you'll be able to use gallery.

And you can play multiple MP3s at once? If you hold down the name of an artist/album/etc, it should give you the option to play all or something.

Quickpic is excellent. The best photo viewer for Vega that I have come across.

Firstly are you in host mode? Secondly, how big is the drive? Especially large ones may not be compatible.

Host mode of course checked with the script and with the widget. its a 2gb usb that used to work with modaco r8

I'm on Corvus5 and I access my USB drive by going to /usbdisk as opposed to /mnt/usb/system_usb.
