OLED screens suffer from burn in and keeping the screen on for so many hours in a row, repeatedly, might thrash the screen.
Guest Maz2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Just use the clock app in night mode. Works fine, doesnt wear out the screen (screensaver) and completely fixes the USB charging problem for me.

The reason I ask is that phone awake is different from screen on. I used to keep my phone awake and screen off using tasker when I had missed calls so the notification leds would show before cm7 fixed that. I've not tried it so I can't say one way or another what it does. Edited May 3, 2011 by targetbsp

(translated from portuguese, might not be the actual text in english). I only used it once, a long time ago so I don't know if it still does that but I believe so. Edited May 3, 2011 by mELIANTE
Guest Flumpster Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 I gotta ask.. Out of the people who are having the restart problem on charging how many of you are overclocked? I was having the same problem and I read someone on here mention theirs did it on overclock so I removed my 710 overclock and went back to normal speeds. Since I did this 3 nights ago it hasn't restarted for me since. Maybe it is a coincidence and it will restart at some point in the next day or two but so far so good. So who is overclocked with these problems ?
Guest toyotahilux Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 I wasn't overclocked and was getting this problem, this doesn't keep the screen on for me, it still goes off as usual. Fingers crossed when I charged it this morning no restart on AC. First time that's happened since installing CM7  Credit to stealthyboss for highlighting this.

It doesn't fix the issue at all. The issue occurs when the device sleeps while charging, and enabling this will prevent the device sleeping. However, this makes charging highly inefficient and could cause issues such as overheating. It's certainly not recommended.
Guest stealthyboss Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 (edited) you can still switch the screen off it just wont sleep when charging, but when nit charging the phone will sleep Edited May 3, 2011 by stealthyboss
Guest GeiZt Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 but if the phone doesnt sleep it takes like years to charge it... i couldn't even load it to 100% over night (via USB not to forget)
Guest ups Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 So who is overclocked with these problems ? Not OC'd and I got the problem too.
Guest Anil k Solanki Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 i was annoyed with the phone freezing while charging so i had a look in options and found something. goto APPLICATIONS - DEVELOPMENT - THEN TICK STAY AWAKE WHILE CHARGING. i done this and havent had the problem at all I suggest you learn the difference between a "fix" and a "work a round". What you have is a work a round the problem solution not a fix. Anil.
Guest Flumpster Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Not OC'd and I got the problem too. So it appears that it isn't the overclock causing it but I just got mine off full charge again and since I took the overclock off it still hasn't restarted.. I wonder if its heat related.?
Guest jeddy1 Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 what charging bug u talk about? why i didnt had it at all? thank my blade:)

The only thing a TFT can get is Image Persistence.
Guest ups Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 what charging bug u talk about? why i didnt had it at all? thank my blade:) In that case, consider yourself lucky! This bug http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?id=3463 is getting pretty annoying. This afternoon, my phone even crashed when I plugged my charger :S
Guest toyotahilux Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 This isn't a fix. It doesn't fix the issue at all. The issue occurs when the device sleeps while charging, and enabling this will prevent the device sleeping. However, this makes charging highly inefficient and could cause issues such as overheating. It's certainly not recommended. Ah well, I'll go back to turning the phone off for charging.
Guest DannyDanny Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 I guess this could be an alternative fix. But I dont want my phone to stay awake all the time as well  I dont think the issue is majorly related to Overclocking, as it also happend when I downclocked my phone. All stables and Nightly are not far from this issue, but I did experience 7.0.2 stable showed much less reboot. (also further nightlies)
Guest Sunshineslo Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 I am still using CM 7.0.0. Stable release because I do not have any bugs at all, working great for me. I found out something weird, maybe it could be coincidence, but when I charge my blade with generic charger, the phone restartes while charging every time, BUT when I use charger from Samsung, this bug doesn't come up!!! Call me dumb or something, but for me Samsung chargers works against black screen and restart  :)
