Restoring Advent stock ROM

Hi.

New to the vega and hving fun but I want to go back to the stock ROM, from Modaco's r8.

Is it possible to rename Advents stock ROM exe file to zip and install using CWM? I can't get into Advents restore mode using the key presses so stuck with booting to recovery.

I also have Vega tools but it tells me I have to be in recovery mode to reload the vega software image, I'm assuming this the advent recovery mode and not CWM?

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately it is not possible to flash the stock ROMs directly with CWM. Inside the EXE (you can unzip the exe file) you find .img files, that need to be flashed with the NVFlash recovery.

Did you try to get into NVFlash recovery with your power supply attached to the tablet. Mine doesn't enter the NVFlash mode without power supply.

Are you sure? Surely you can just extract the images, generate an md5 and trick CWM into thinking it's a backup?

I agree its possible, I did it once, but system was not stable. Good enough if you just need to get back to booting device and then restore from Titanium Backup.

Thanks guys but i have sorted it now. What isnt made clear is that the vega gives no indication of being in recovery mode. Once i realised device manager was waiting for drivers to be installed all was ok.

It was done for one of the earlier updates ages ago I think it was version 1.06 it can be done but it hasn't been for a while.
