Guest ShahinTehShiz Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Hi all, Tried searching through the forum but could not find direct answers, forgive me if I'm wrong. I followed the guide on Orangesanfrancisco and have SS RL4B on my phone. I have really bad battery issues, calibrated 5 times now and still I'm losing battery every 10 mins or so. I've heard this isn't the problem with RLS5 so was wondering if someone could give me instructions on how to keep my data e.g back up my contacts? And how I would install RLS5 safely even though I've got RLS4b (Noob friendly guide would be preffered) xD Thank you!

Guest k0zmic Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 (edited) I'm on Gen1, I'm going to stick to Gen1 till a proper guide comes out and since I'm fine with the ROMs available, its just the battery issue. Erm Swedish Spring is compatible with Gen 1 or Gen 2. Download > Put in root of SDCard > Nandroid > Recovery > Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache > Flash RLS5. This will retain all your apps and data If you have the battery issue still I suggest you Nandroid & Titanium Backup/MyBackup > Do a full wipe via Recovery > Install RLS5 and then reinstall your apps whether it be via Titanium or Market. Full wipes usually solve battery issues and weird problems. For contacts, Gmail, Calender just go into Accounts and Sync in settings and tick them all. There's also MyBackupPro Root on the Market which does Bookmarks and Alarms etc. Edited May 3, 2011 by k0zmic
Guest JT_daniel Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 (edited) You don't need a full wipe!!!! Kalt_kaffe has posted this on the main page of the SS RLS5- Upgrades don't need a full wipe. Simply flash the RLS5 over the RLS4b. Download the RLS5 into your SD card and check the MD5 sums in Astro. If the tarry, switch the phone off. Restart it again, holding the Volume down (-) button. This will get it into clockwork. There, got to install from SD card and go to your RLS5 zip and click on install. Reboot your phone once it's done. Go to the SS RLS 5 thread for more detailed info!! I'd advise you to take a backup in clockwork BEFORE you install the RLS5. Go to Backups and restore in clockwork and take a complete backup. Then you can restore it if something goes wrong. *As for the battery problem, you seem to have a defective battery. If RLS5 doesn't fix it, get a replacement!* Edited May 3, 2011 by JT_daniel

Wouldn't I have to wipe the cache if I'm upgrading my version?
Guest JT_daniel Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Wouldn't I have to wipe the cache if I'm upgrading my version? No, here's Kalt_kaffe's words- "No wipe needed if upgrading from earlier version."
Guest k0zmic Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Wouldn't I have to wipe the cache if I'm upgrading my version? There's no harm in doing so. You're less likely to get force closes.
