Guest Davey_b Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 Is there any way to setup my Vega so that if it goes missing I can wipe it remotely? Got things like dropbox installed and email and the like. Cheers

Cheers Most of the available software to wipe data remotely or trace stolen machines requires a 3G connection which of course the Vega does not have built in so I can't think of anything I've seen which would fit your needs. If you are concerned about sensitive data being compromised then it might be better to keep that in the cloud on a secure (if there is one) website rather than on the device itself. The next best thing would be to encrypt all your data on the Vega and allow access by keyword but haven't checked that out myself. I'm sure other people will have suggestions though
Guest Zebrahead Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 I think you can password protect dropbox (not sure how this deals with a file explorer browsing /sdcard/dropbox), and I'm sure there must be some email clients that allow password protection. But as was said, remote control requires a connection of some description, may not be the easiest of things to come by. Zeb

When it boots up it runs a script from your web site which says do nothing, if your vega gets stolen replace the script with a format the sd card and wipe the data partition / reset to default.

Yeah, that seems like a reasonable idea. But as with all of them, requires a connection to said website

RTM http://www.myadventvega.co.uk/manual.pdf Not sure how this helps if you have any info on the SD card that can be accessed by ADB? Can you encrypt? Edited May 3, 2011 by Dav0
