Guest marin6061 Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 I would like to replace current 2GB memory by new 8GB I plan to: 1. Move all application from the memory card to the phone memory 2. Copy all the memory card content to my pc (via USB) 3. Power off the phone and replace the memory card 4. Boot the phone to Clockworkmod and partition it 5. Reboot the phone and copy the card content back to the memory card (via USB) Please advice if this process is ok? am I missing something ? Which size of partition should I use during the partition process? (512Mb / 32Mb ?) Thank you.

Sounds like you have it all sorted, I replaced my 2GB with a 16GB but i had no special partitions so just cloned the card from one too the other.

Guest hugobosslives Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 yer. I second mounting in clockwork and transferring from PC then. this way the phone doesn't boot with a blank sdcard.
Guest oldfella Posted May 3, 2011 Report Posted May 3, 2011 if you already have an ext partition, do a backup before you start - then after partioning do a complete restore, that will rebuild the ext on the sd card
Guest marin6061 Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 if you already have an ext partition, do a backup before you start - then after partioning do a complete restore, that will rebuild the ext on the sd card I do have an ext partition, can you please explain how to backup & restore ( i am new buy in this area)
Guest oldfella Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) I do have an ext partition, can you please explain how to backup & restore ( i am new buy in this area) Clockwork has backup and restore, that will restore the phone and the ext, you will need to restore the win32 part of the sdcard from a pc backup Edited May 4, 2011 by oldfella
Guest marin6061 Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 I would like to understand it better, By making this backup (in Clockwork), I can skip the stage of moving all installed application from the memory card to the phone memory?
Guest oldfella Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 if you are using ext to hold some apps, then what I have suggested will recreate the ext partition on your new SD card to the same position as your old card you will also have some apps in memory, this wont change and will be restored anyway you only actually need to restore the sd-ext from the backup, but last time I did it I thought it was easier to restore everything so yes, you dont need to do anything else with your apps, everything else will be restored when you restore the WIN32 partition.

Guest Maxsas360 Posted August 5, 2011 Report Posted August 5, 2011 I have a 8gb Class 4 Kingston card and I don't experience anything bad. It's hella fast and cheap. I paid about 12 £ converted from my country currency. And no, it's not fake.
