Guest Gunnerzz Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 Installed the Swedish Spring RLS5 Custom ROM and now can't connect to WiFi at my house or my Girlfriends. But when connecting to her HTC Wildfire as a hotspot it connects straight away. Can also connect to the BTOpenzone network with no problems. Was all fine before i rooted and changed the ROM. I've read on some forums that its the routers fault but my girlfriends is completely different to mine. Have tried using the WiFi unlock apps so it doesn't sleep and that doesn't work. Help?

Help?I have exactly the same experience, this rom is superior than the the old one but wifi is acting strangely mainly when I try to connect to new wireless points with low coverage-strength. I did a full wipe before!
Guest Shahmatt Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 I was able to reconnect when I restarted the phone or restarted the modem and router. I have not experienced any problems for the last 4 days or so now. The problem seems to have resolved itself. Have you tinkered with the CPU of your phone using No Frills CPU? I have a slight suspicion that this may have been the cause of the trouble since this was one of the items I played around with during my efforts to fix the problem. I can't pinpoint it as the cause but maybe you can try setting everything to normal and then seeing if it makes any difference. I am currently using No Frills from 240 to 650MHz (interactive profile)
Guest Azurana Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 I have the exact same problem. And Wifi is really important to me since I don;t have 3g yet. Which means after a full wipe, I need wifi to get my titanium backup, for all my apps! I also addressed this in the rom thread
Guest magikstar29 Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 hello,i've also the same problem with wifi,i can't connect to any wifi
Guest Ronald Hummelink Posted May 6, 2011 Report Posted May 6, 2011 I had this problem after restoring Wifi config with titanium going from JJ to SS. Not all roms share exactly the same format in the wifi config file, wpa_supplicant.conf in /data/misc/wifi/ (on SS RlS5 at least) Solved after removing the file on /data, which makes wpa_supplicant reinitialize it with a version from /system partition.
Guest Smoke69 Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 I've had the same problem after changing ROM and backing up with Titanium Backup. Also after upgrading from SS rls4 to rls5 (did not do the backup this time, but no wipe also). I've found a solution: made a wifi backup in Titanium Backup (TB), then deleted it right away through the TB and than cleaning the Dalvik's Cache through the TB. Even though TB said, that there's no unnecessary files in the Cache, after switching TB off, the WiFi started working (might need a restart). I am using Osf TFT Gen1, with SS5, Bus overclocked.
Guest Steve Crabble Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 It may not be the rom that is the problem http://community.bt.com/t5/BB-Speed-Connec...ntu/td-p/176473
Guest Gunnerzz Posted May 8, 2011 Report Posted May 8, 2011 I can connect when i reboot the router. But this doesnt help if im round a friends or at college...
Guest Bartridge Posted May 8, 2011 Report Posted May 8, 2011 It may not be the rom that is the problem http://community.bt.com/t5/BB-Speed-Connec...ntu/td-p/176473 Worked for me - thanks. Latest firmware update on BT Home Hub 2 has broken WiFi for Android / Linux. Reset your BT Home Hub as suggested in Steve's link - System Reset (Settings/System/Reset - I didn't go for the 'Full Reset' but went for 'Settings only'....working fine now.
Guest Nandroid Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 (edited) My daughter and I both have blades. They both used to connect to the work router. Mine still connects to any access point, but hers has stopped connecting to the work router. It still connects to her home router, but even after rebooting the work router and phone, it still refuses to connect. It does the scan/ obtaining IP/disconnect loop. Both are Gen1 and running Modaco R12. I have tried re-installing the ROM, without a wipe, switching wifi on and off, etc. Any thoughts on what to do to solve this? Cheers Steve. Just depends on the router i think. Mine now connects at home once i rebooted it. Still cant connect to my friends tho. Connected to some open networks on my way home today. Bit of a bug me thinks
