Guest Stution Brown Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 Hi All, I was wondering if you help me out. I've got an advent vega and already installed most of the apps I need. However i've just brought a case with a USB keyboard and after reading through the threads on this site it seems that I need to change the USB status to HOST and to do this I need to put a rom on "RC8" which i should be okay to do. However my question is when putting this new rom on will it wipe all the current data I have stored on my vega? Many Thanks
Guest warwound Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 I'm pretty sure all your apps will be gone after flashing a new ROM such as the MCR r8. Look at the various backup solutions available. Titanium Backup is very popular. warwound.

If you apply via CWM, then it will wipe /data and so your data will be lost. Either way, I suggest making a backup before you go anything using CWM (or the tool on my website if you don't have CWM). This will allow you to restore any data no matter what happens. Titanium backup will backup your apps and settings so they can be reapplied when you update. CWM will backup the whole system in case anything goes wrong. Data can be reacquired via either method. Zeb

One last question how do I find out what rom I have currently got? I only ask as I had to do put one on to get the android market place and in my hast I didn't really take much note of what I was doing (It was rather late at night!) Thanks again

Thanks again No ROMs should format your SD card. You'll find your ROM info in Settings->About Device Zeb
