Guest Gobert Posted May 4, 2011 Report Posted May 4, 2011 Hi everyone! Yesterday I joined MoDaCo, after some research about how to get the best from my recently acquired GalaxyTab GT-P1000. I bought it in Sudan, since I'm working in the UN Mission there. Here's the data: Firmware 2.2, Baseband P1000JXJJ1, Kernel Version 2.6.32.9root@mea04#1, Build number FRYO.JPJJ2. I'm using the LauncherPro, since the original one just SUCKS! My Tab is not rooted yet. It's working ok, but of course: I WANT TO BE FREE! My computer is a MacBook Pro Intel (i5 processor, 500gb HD, 4GB RAM) I baked a rom following the instructions on the related post. Looks like Mac OSX 10.6 decompressed the file by itself, but then I compressed it again and copied to the 4GB sdcard, which was totally blank. I couldn't perform the nandroid backup. Maybe I need a specific help...clockworkmod recovery is not working to backup and also Titanium, but I can understand: it's because my Tab is not rooted... Using the three-button routine I rebooted my tab into recovery mode, selected "APPLY SDCARD:UPDATE.ZIP" and then get this error: "can't open e:/mnt/sdcard/update.zip." The device is rebooted to its original ROM. Well, I'm stepping into a not well known terrain, and a bit afraid of bricking my Tab...but, on the other hand, I really don't like to be a digital prisoner...there are some applications that came with my Tab and I would like to wipe them out! Finally, these gadgets I suppose they should do exactly what the owner wants...I'm counting on you to help me to enjoy DIGITAL FREEDOM with my TAB  Gobert
