Rockchip Apad randomly going off or not booting cure

I have a 7" Rockchip Apad that has the on off switch between the two mini USB ports and has the red LED light. Ever since I've had it the device has at times not booted (if you let go of the on/off button on the bezel it would stop booting) or just randomly gone off.

I've see some people with the same issue who have ended up taking the device apart either looking for a loose cable or removing the sliding on/off switch (and damaging the casing in doing so).

I have suspected that the sliding on/off switch was possibly not making full contact in the on position, so with the switch in the off position I got a small screwdriver with a spline head that just fitted inside the slot and ground away a bit of the slot where the switch would be in the on position.

I've found that the switch now moves further across (obviously putting the switch into the on position more positively) and I've not had any problems with the device going off randomly. A simple fix that avoids having to take the device apart. I suspect the switch and the casing are not correctly aligned inside.
