I've put together about 50 "remixed" ROMs using a variety of bases and even some from scratch. All Froyo, and Gen 1 and 2 or both/either. I've tried everything - some with great success, some pants. I think I've now exhausted the portfolio, and providing "old-gold" Gen 1 ROMs with a new lease of life on Gen 2 was something I felt important, based on a lack of choice for users. I failed to get MCR 12 to Gen 2 fully... I could do a Gen 2 Japanese Spring, which is my 2nd personal fave....

I have 4 phones now (was 5 and I've sold on about 20), 1 OLED and 3 TFT, all originally Gen 1. 2 are still Gen 1, 2 Windows converted to Gen 2. Without issue.

And yet, for my everyday phone, which never lets me down and has great usability and battery life, I use my own flavour of JJ9 (Gen 2 now, although no user-different to Gen 1).

My daughters are on SS5 Remixes with a variety of bling. The 4th phone has all sorts on it from time to time, mostly with hacked kernels.

The only minor bugbear on JJ9 is the O2-UK provider text in lieu of giffgaff. One day, I'll find out why, exactly.

It shows Elisa in lieu of Saunalahti and thinks it's roaming but if you install saunalahti rils, then it shows correctly.

So I guess that you need to install different rils to get it work.

Just try those Saunalahti rils. They are used in CM7 too. (At least they were used in Gen1 CM7 not sure what RIL it uses now.)

Thanks for the tip, but I've tried every pair of RIL libs I could find. There is something else affecting the provider display, but not found it.
