Hi, new to the streak but have dabbled very briefly in phones. I have a streak that I bought from Tesco's unlocked. I remember a reference number 15609 didn't write the rest of the info down. I am stuck at the Dell logl after trying to root it. Can anyone tell me if this method would work on mine? I know Tesco piggyback of the O2 network but mine had no O2 logo at all. I was at 2.2.2 after over the air upgrades if that helps.

Any help greatly appreciated

Sorry, when I refer to "this method" I was meaning the sticky for O2 1.6

You have flashed a 1.6 boot image, that was stupid... Image getting a euro fighter and to make it work better hammering a sopwith engine in there....

You need to flash the 351 rom again. Then search for how to root using update zip.

Thanks for the info I didn't actually flash anything, the trouble came about when I tried to root it, I was just enquiring if the 1.6 boot image would cure my probs as it has done other people.

Note to self, DO NOT use the 1.6 file.

Could you tell me which S/W would be best to flash it with and where I might find the 351 rom.

Thanks

Scrub the above, just usedMultirecovery flasher 0.5 that contains the 3.51 rom but still no go. Goes through the motions saying successful but just hangs. I'm using win 7 64 bit if that has any bearing. Total flash time is a couple of secs?

Installed net framework 1.1 just in case but still the same. The three lights at the side stay lit up as well as the white Dell logo.

Anyone used Windows 7 64 bit with the streak. I'm pretty sure Win 7 comes with framework already built in. Didn't realise until I'd seen some screenshots of the rooting process and mine never went through the motions shown so am wondering if my laptop might be the weak link.

I now have the dell 15609_351_pkg file which is approx 190mb. Would it be wise to try to write this to my Dell and is it done by copying to my card first and then starting the dell in fastboot mode or is it by holding down the up down volume keys.

Rename it Update.pkg and move it to the root of your sd card then turn on holding both volume buttons, select update from sd card and hope for the best. If this doesn't work then the way I got mine going again after I killed it trying to stick clockwork on 2.2 was to reset it using the QDL tool but the drivers for this won't work on windows 7, if you can get access to a pc or netbook running XP then your golden!

I am a bit confused by the instructions in the pinned section. I have a streak that I purchased from Tesco, unlocked and unbranded. Does that mean I have to load a recovery image BEFORE I flash the 351 rom? I'm a little confused.

Info from the stickies "How to"

How to install

•Download the pkg file above and copy it to your microSD card named 'update.pkg'.

•ONLY if you have flashed a custom recovery image OR if you are using a non O2 supplied device (e.g. from Dell directly), you need to revert to a stock recovery image by carrying out the following steps:

◦Download the stock recovery image above and extract to a directory

◦Put your device in bootloader mode - Unplug the device from your PC, remove the device battery, then replace it and turn device on with the camera button pressed. Select the 'fastboot' text on the top right, wait around 10 seconds then plug the device into your PC. The screen display should change to 'FASTBOOT MODE'. If it doesn't, repeat and retry (it's a bit temperamental!)

◦WINDOWS - double click 'install-recovery-windows.bat'

◦MAC - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x install-recovery-mac.sh' followed by './install-recovery-mac.sh'

◦LINUX - Open a terminal window to the directory containing the files, and type 'chmod +x install-recovery-linux.sh' followed by './install-recovery-linux.sh'

•Power on your device with the 'volume up' and 'volume down' buttons pressed. This will give you a menu, where the second option is 'Apply update.pkg from SD card' Select this option (using volume keys and camera button to select).

•When this process completes, your upgrade is done!

Yeah i think you'll have to flash with a custom recovery then use the update.pkg from that restore program.

As I did as after resetting with qdl I was on a unbranded rom which is nice, no o2 stuff slowing me down!

Thanks, just checked the configuration of my streak on the Dell website using the service tag and it says original configuration O2, shipped with sim. Mine has no O2 splash screen, just gets more confusing.

Also, I have searched on the Dell site for any info that would give me all the specs for my unit, kernel, etc, but can't see them anywhere.

Any chance of pointing me in the right direction for the recovery rom, don't want to keep on making mistakes as I think a fatal one is just around the corner.

Thanks for the help. Copied the 188mb package to my sd card and followed the instructions and hey presto, working again

Happy bunny
