ok, i think i've managed to brick my zte blade in a really special way

I used the custom image to flash it to CM7.02 which worked fine. Phone was up and running and working. Flashed clockworkmod in the rom manager. asked for root permission so said 'yes' and it flashed it seemingly ok. so thought "ok, i'll use the rom manager to try the swedish springs" rom.

flashed it, the phone rebooted and got stuck on the green android. and stayed stuck.

i've powered it up with the power and volume + keys pressed - get the green android.

i've popped the battery, counted to 5, done the same thing - green android

i've popped the battery, counted to 5, powered on with the volume, power and menu key pressed - green android

i've taken the SD card out AND the battery and plugged the USB cable in - I rather bizarrely get a green android

i've popped the battery, replaced the back cover and just plugged the USB cable in - green android

i'm convinced i've properly killed it .. can't seem to do anything to get it in to recovery or to get the PC to recognise it so i can adb or fastboot ..

please help :o

EDIT:

To add to that, if i pop the battery and hold the VOL - button down, then plug the USB cable in the device manager shows up ZTE Diagnostic Interface but fastboot still gets stuck on 'waiting for device'

More info please.

Is it gen1 or gen2?

Which "Custom image" are we talking about ? links if you have any.

Did you use TPT method?

i do apologise - i tend to forget the little details when i'm in a fluster. It was a GEN1 device and yes, i did use the TPT method from this link, so I was fully aware it would change it to a GEN2.

I have currently managed to somehow blunder my way into clockworkmod and mount the SD card successfully, so I think to be on the safe side for now, i'll re-do the CM702 TPT image just to resurrect the phone

well i copied the image across to the SD card. i pulled the cable out (probably stupidly i s'pose) and then put it back in while holding VOL +

it actually flashed the image as i watched it do it onscreen. then the green android kept flashing on and off as i heard the beep on my machine to signify a device being plugged in and plugged out over and over again.

it hasn't actually fully come back to anything like the phone yet - i put the battery back in and powered back on and it's still stuck on the green android

going to try and get back to clockwork again ..

ok when it was doing the 'device inserted' bleep i popped the battery back in and i now have the cyanogen boot animation so it looks like it might be alive after all.

i'd still like to try the swedish springs rom though so i'll have to get reading again ..

when i had my HTC Desire i was quite good on flashing, rooting and roms and the like .. bit out of touch

(and as i type, the phone lives .. woohoo)

lets start from scratch.. Im gonna cut and paste info I put in another thread but I also would recommend that you format your SD card as well first to be on the safe side.

Instructions in very basic steps for you.

Make sure battery has enough power to complete process.. Over 20 percent to be safe.

Download this zip file Here

Extract this file on your computer and you will see that it creates an "image" folder with about 17 files inside.

Copy this folder to the root of your sd card (so on the very beginning of the SD card you have the image folder with the files inside.)

Power off the phone and unplug from usb or charger.

Hold down "menu" button and "volume up" together and while holding them then hold the power button also.

A lot of text should now start on your screen and you can leave go of the buttons at this point.

Wait until rom comes on.

Job done.

You need to hold the Vol- key to get into clockwork, the Vol+ does nothing for your cause

To use swedish spring just download the rom from Here and place it on your sd card. Now boot into clockwork and use the following instructions.

Use Volume Up / Down to move between options

Use Home key to select an option

Use Back key to go back

Choose the 5th item "install zip fom sdcard"

Choose the 2nd item "choose zip from sdcard"

Choose the file "Swedish Spring RLS5.zip "

Choose the various yes options

When complete use the back button to get back to the main menu

If you are moving to a new Custom ROM, or changing between 2.1 and 2.2 you Must reset the device (this will reset the phone losing your apps and data).

From the clockwork menu choose: wipe cache partition.

From the clockwork menu choose: wipe data/factory reset.

Choose the 1st item "reboot now"

The phone now reboots.

cheers for all that. I managed to install swedish spring ok and i do like it, although i'm hankering after a black bar mod though. i tried to install the remix but it just refused to work - i did a full wipe and it didn't make a difference. got stuck on the green android each time i rebooted.
