Galaxy 2 vs Desire S

I've got a friend who looks as if she's narrowed down her choice of phone to the Galaxy 2 or the Desire S.

I'm an HTC fanboy myself, despite owning the Nexus S (best 4" screen at the time I got it) but I know Paul's been raving about the Galaxy 2, so I thought I'd get a second opinion.

The 4.3" screen seems large to me, but I haven't seen either one in the flesh, so don't have a real point of comparison.

What would you guys recommend? It's her first android phone (she wanted an iPhone this morning, but got talked out of it by the guy in the shop :mellow: ), so I don't know how Sense fares against the new TouchWiz...

Hmm..now I may be slightly biased here in that I'm not a lover of Samsung and adore my Desire S.

But that aside, I can look at it purely from a girls point of view for you.

I've held the SG2 in my hand..and as much as my head knows from the reviews I've read, and Paul's own recommendation, that's a fantastic and zippy phone..I just don't like the feel of it at all. It's huge! and feels very plasticy..Paul said the back feels like a poppadom :)

The desire feels more solid and the new sense 2.1 is pretty nice.

I guess if your g/f is more techy than myself and wants the fastest phone and doesn't mind how big it is..the SG2 is amazing!

Otherwise HTC is my recommendation..still nice and smooth, smaller and feels good :P

The s2 is hands down better, without a shadow of a doubt better, the only thing that makes the desire s better is its metal case, and maybe its smaller form factor.
