Guest TheManicGibbon Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 There is the possibility that the screen itself is dead...but depending on how much you paid for the phone and how technically proficient you are  , it's not really an expensive fix
Guest scoobydoo99 Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 Let me paint you the story with my imagination brush... I bought a broken ZTE blade off Ebay. In terms of hardware, the phone is in good condition, no cracks, no water damage. The phone vibrates when I press buttons, or run my finger across the screen, so I know something's going on, but the screen is just black. My theory is that the previous owner tried to install a firmware, but installed the firmware for the wrong kind of screen that's in the phone (OLED for TFT or the other way round) Would that cause the symptoms described? I'm a traveller in these lands, and (though technically proficient) have no familiarity with android hacking. Is there any way that I can diagnose and or fix a phone with no screen? Some kind of PC forced reflash that doesn't need input from the phone screen? If in fact my theory is plausable? I know that the hacker/tinkerer community is sickeningly resourceful and intelligent, so I'm hoping that you guys will have some ideas. Cheers gents. Sounds like one of the white Blades I bought - used it for a while with a custom rom then one day the screen just wouldn't come on, returned it under warranty

Try flashing the custom rom onto the phone. you wont need to use the screen, only need to press power on holding volume - and it will do the rest automatically. the at least you will know if it a physical damage or just software. my last blade had an issue with the screen, where i could see everything, but it was not touch sensitive, so it was simply stuck on the lock-screen for example. so i flashed the stock rom, and returned it under warranty, got it replaced! Orange UK stock rom
Guest veehexx Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 i'd look for a TPT recovery image. move files from computer to mSD card, insert it into the phone, the power on & vol+. this should automatically flash the files. just to be clear, TPT is different that a .zip ROM. iirc, it's in a folder called 'image' on the SD card, and about 6 files in total.
Guest jonas_football Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 (edited) Correct...the link i have provided above is of the TPT. if that doesnt do the trick, its most likely a faulty screen. good luck! "The TPT image needs to be extracted from the zip to make a folder called (exactly!) image in the root (top) directory of your sdcard (so that its pathname is /sdcard/image). Once the material is there, power the phone off, and restart it while holding down the Volume + key. You should see lots of info on screen as the transplant proceeds. After it finishes, and you have restarted your phone, you might wish to remove or rename the /image folder (not least to prevent accidental re-flashing later.)" if i remember right it took between 5-10 min to boot, it should boot automatically. Guest Matty-p Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Doesn't appear to have worked. Anybody know where I can pick up a replacement screen? have you done the old school fastboot flash boot.img and system.img from a old rom then once that rom is on then you can change it again.
