Guest haritr Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 (edited) I have bought my dell xcd35 which is a dell branded Zte blade and updated to froyo through dell service center. The battery backup is very low. not lasting even a day. Sync, wifi, blutooth, edge are turned on. Brightness set to automatic, and Still it isnt lasting much  The phone gets heated up when charging and using it. Android assistant shows upto 49 degree Celsius while charging, and 40~46 while using it for 30 minutes. How is the battery backup of those who have the stock rom of dell xcd 35 and is there any heating issues?? The Quadrant test shows a score of 396 which i think is very low :o But the stocked rom is plain android one without any customizations or branding with crap applications like the OSF have. Am really worried about these things. Edited May 7, 2011 by haritr

I've not been paying a lot of attention, but I don't think anyone's yet dumped / shared this 2.2 ROM There's a link here to someone posting about having it, but I didn't notice it being uploaded anywhere Might be worth messaging hecatae or sebastian404 about it In truth I've only seen a couple of posters on here with that version of the blade, but basically, they're pretty much all the same - just with different software (there are some with 5mp cameras, but these were only sold in scandinavian markets I believe) Anyway, the stock roms are generally not too good in daily use, so I would kinda suggest you contact the lads mentioned above, upload the ROM you have then look at flashing a more suitable one Hope that's some help
Guest wbaw Posted May 8, 2011 Report Posted May 8, 2011 (edited) 49c isn't really anything to worry about. If you use the phone a lot then a day is normal battery use. What apps do you have & how often are they syncing? Turn off anything you don't need. You can install a Gen2 rom, like CM7 & that should give you better performance & features, at the cost of a bit of reliability. All the current roms have a few problems, that's what you get for buying a cheap chinese phone, the team behind CM7 are doing a great job working on fixing them. Anyway, do you have a download link for this update? Please? Forget dumping the rom if you've got the update, the file used to update your phone has everything in it that we want. Was it updated by a Dell employee, or some kind of online service centre where you download & run a file with your phone connected to your pc? Edited May 8, 2011 by wbaw
Guest haritr Posted May 8, 2011 Report Posted May 8, 2011 Here is the rom dump posted by another person http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...xcd35-rom-dump/
Guest wbaw Posted May 8, 2011 Report Posted May 8, 2011 Here is the rom dump posted by another person http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...xcd35-rom-dump/ If you have a link to the actual update file, it should be a windows program that flashes your phone, it contains all the radio firmware, so it'd be good for us to have too. I'm not sure how the upgrade process works for those phones, they're only sold in India. Do you upgrade it yourself? or does a Dell technician do it?
Guest JT_daniel Posted May 8, 2011 Report Posted May 8, 2011 I think you've got to take the phone to a service center where an employee does it for you, wbaw.
Guest ontherocks Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 Here is the rom dump posted by another person http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...xcd35-rom-dump/ That's the ROM dump of Gen1 (2.1). I realized later that it had already been posted earlier. You should upload a ROM dump of 2.2 that you have. It's not been uploaded yet.

I will upload the rom if I update my XCD35. as stock Dell XCD 35 comes with 2.1 and has 414.81MB total memory. My Phone battery lasts for 2 days with mild wifi use and little phone. The phone does heat up while charging but not much while using it. Did you have battery issue on 2.1 also ? Regards Ninbychoice

Guest bkgroup Posted May 8, 2012 Report Posted May 8, 2012 I have worked with lots of android mobile phones and found that battery draining problem occurs only due to unnecessary opened wireless connection.I will advice all android cell phone owner to switch all wireless connection & use it whenever they needed. Switching off GPS is also other good option for prevention of android battery life. This might help you more with this regard: http://www.ehowportal.com/prevent-battery-drain-android-phone/
