Maybe to people in foreign climes, but with blades going on sale in more & more markets I'd guess the eBay market for em will dry up pdq

The OLED ones seem to fetch a good price

Maybe cuz they're unlocked? People probably don't realise how incredibly easy it is to unlock them

its more because there are countries (e.g. like germany) where you can't get a ZTE Blade without signing a 2 year contract and that are excluded for shipping by shops like orange and amazon

and other smartphones with similar specifications are 250++ euro without contract

Well I got mine 105 GBP shipped, on Ebay, but that was only because it was not available at Argos or any of the Orange shops at that time. It was retailing for 89 GBP at that time, so the difference didn't seem that significant.

But what I don't get is the 149 GBP pricing, for TFT OSF's. I doubt they'd sell, I really doubt people will be stupid enough to pay double the retail price.

Agreed.

But lets hope that the OLD models continue to fetch a good price, even for just a little while

Believe it or not it would seem they do still sell at these crazy prices.

If you log-in to ebay.com or .co.uk, search for 'ZTE Blade' and on the left hand side scroll down and click 'Completed Listings', then it will show you all of the completed sales and as you can see, lots of them have sold

Lots of them ship to people like me who live in places like Australia where the Blade hasn't been released. Even if you pay $140 + international shipping (which many sell for), It still works out to be the best value for money Android phone you can get in Australia.

I'm guessing that the Australian minimum wage makes the price of an ebay blade appear to be very good value. Unlike the price of an Australian bottle of coke to a pom which at its most expensive was about 5 quid. Maybe the Australian government doesn't like tourists spending money in its country.

You can't get the Blade in the Netherlands, so we have to pay a premium to have it shipped from somewhere else. It's getting better as more countries have the Blade available, Dutch people can now get one from Belgium if they want. But I paid about £130 for each of the 2 Blades I bought. Was a while back when they only sold in the UK, Switzerland and Finland in Europe. Still awesome value-for-money at that price.

I'm confused. Are you saying the Australian minimum wage is too high? The price and availability of alternative android phones in Australia is what makes an ebay blade appear to be good value. Since when did the English import Australian bottles of coke? And what does an Australian person importing goods have to do with Australian tourism?

I mean I've got an oled so it might fetch £100... and about £200 of "pocket money"

Still nothing much i'd really want to upgrade to because:

1) The blade had (imo) the best selection of ROMs across most android devices.

2) A pretty damn good screen! And its Hdpi - can disgplay anything a sgs etc can

3) A new phone would get outdated only as fast as the blade.

4) The blade has everything I really want, maybe except a tad more speed: there is little point in me upgrading to something else just for that!

Also, people pay a premium for rooted and unlocked.

They seem to like it if it has Gingerbread on it as well.

OLED's fetch £150 I think.

I paid £120 for mine... worked out at about €153 including postage, was unwanted XMas gift

no regrets, its still not sold in the Republic (and I live as far from the North as possible)

A lot of people I know are surprised by how cheap I got it

Yeah, it may have been a one off since I was looking for a used one one eBay around a month ago when my Hero got messed up. I saw OLED's going for big prices.

Here's one that's going now: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OLED-Orange-San-Fran...#ht_1566wt_1139

The above is Stock 2.1, not rooted etc.

If it's rooted, unlocked, OLED, running Gingerbread and in good condition I reckon you could get at least £130 for it.

Found a couple that sold for around £140. Average seems around £130.

Experience on ebay haha.

Waited and waited for auctions under £150, it took over a week for sensible prices near the end of bids. I waited till the last 20 seconds and bid a max of £145. Weekday lunch/afternoons are the best bet. I got lucky and someone didnt counter bid/notice I guess.

I can see why the sell, and as the Aussie said earlier, even at 150 pounds they're much better value for money than any Android phone you can buy through the telco's over here (I'm in NZ).

I was lucky enough to have my sister bring one back for me for 100 pounds when she returned from her OE in December (and OLED one too!), and now would love to get one for my wife - without knowing someone in the country it's impossible to buy through usual means, leaving places like ebay as the only option for overseas buyers.

So don't be too scornful of people paying so much - it's one of the downsides of living on the other side of the world!
