Tethering from ZTE Racer out of the box

I am thinking about getting a ZTE Racer on Pay as you go from the 3 store in the UK.

Would I be able to create a portable WiFi hotspot from the ZTE Racer using the out of the box firmware?

What version of Android is on the ZTE Racer? Can you tether from it?

Racer comes with 2.1 but i haven't tried tethering.

What happens when you go to "Settings" and then "Wireless & network settings" on your phone? Do you get the option "Tethering & portable hotspot" ?

if memory serves tithering is only present if Froyo.. Android 2.2 so there is no tithering out of the box unless you upgrade the ROM to a 2.2 version available on this site

hey DJ_Fletch, not out of the box no, but theres an app called Barnacle that you can get from the android market, no fuss at all, works great for the Racer on 2.1... but you dont get the option to do it from your network settings unless you use 2.2 or higher. hope that helps dude
