Hi all.

Just charged up my Orange San Francisco and like a mug, tried the lock pattern. I got up this morning and cannot remember it. I have tried every pattern (so I thought) but cannot remember it. It has not been setup yet, my simcard has not arrived so there is not one in there. Is there anything I can do to wipe it and start again? The instructions from Orange were you have to do this from the menu but I can't get there due to the pattern lock. I read something about clockworkmod recovery but after a search on this site, it seems you have to install filer or something first. Can someone point me to what I need and where to find it?

Thanks,

James

If you have set up a google account enough false attempts will allow you to enter your google account and its password.

I believe there is a reset button under the battery cover just above the sim card slot: try that out.

If not you can flash clockworkmod recovery via fastboot (look at the clockwork thread in th Roms and rom customization sub-forum) and then wipe data/factory reset with that.

If I am of absolutely no help there are other threads about this in this zte blade forum

Hi, thanks for the reply. I spent an hour trying to find instructions on how to clockworkmod but was unable to find any simple instructions. I have downloaded the file which is a .img format, placed it on the sd card but cannot load it. I haven't even got a sim card in there yet as this is arriving in a seperate order. Nothing is setup at all. Could you be so kind as to point me where I should go as a serach deliveres loads of entries but are extra things to load. I tried the reset on the back but it only restarts the phone and the password pattern stills needs to be entered.

Thanks again,

James

Thanks but it's of no use as I have no idea if the phone is G1 or G2. After speaking to Orange, it seems all I can do is through it in the bin as they say nothing can be done without the unlock pattern.

Have you associated your phone with a gmail account? If you have then there is the option to override the screen lock by confirming your email details. This option should present itself when you fail to enter the right pattern enough times (5 I think).

From Orange, it's gen 1. They don't sell Gen 2 phones in the UK.

Yeah, sure. I don't know what Gen it is since I fiddled with the thing while waiting for the sim card from Orange. It seems they send them out in a different package to the phone. Since there was no sim card, I haven't set anything up; the time etc. So what you want, a scan of my invoice (not that you'd get it)?

James.

Hi again.

Could you point me in the right direction please as the only instructions I can find have you changing some settings on the phone first (which of course I cannot do).

Thanks,

James

Tried it but when it restarts you are back to the 'draw pattern' screen.

For doing a reset, look at the clockworkmod thread which is stickied in roms and rom custimisation.

For custorm roms installation. Which is dead easy (did it without anyonnes knowledge, my first android phoning at the age of 13)

Its all in the how to install a custom ROM guide, in the roms and rom customisation sub forum. Ask any

questions about flashing roms within that thread, it will keep things tidier

TBH you may as well just flash on the stock b10 TPT image...

If you bought it from orange in the UK, it's gen1.

But if you stole it - I can see why you wouldn't know..

NB: When I bought a contract phone on orange the sim came with the phone. lol.

& the PAYG blade also came with a sim in the box. lol x2..

Just in case you did steal the phone, I'm going to call you a homosexual just to be on the safe side.. kay homo?

To do the TPT

Download this file..

http://www.multiupload.com/WOK8YUAT8X

Unzip and stick the "image" folder on the root on your sd card

(obviously stick it on there with a card reader or another phone with an sdcard slot)

Make sure your phone is charged up to say at least 30 percent?

Turn the phone off..

Hold the volume up button and the power button at the same time...

Some crap will happen.. you might have a blank screen while it happens or you may have some green text.. either way don't do anything.. its all automated..

You phone will reboot and work as usual..

The above file was retrieved from: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-2011-oled-tft/

Got that homo?

EDIT: check the MD5 of the zip file if you can be bothered.. It should be 6941006aa6edf538bce10928f8883ff1 (Google how to check an MD5)

Just to mention again, I have not stolen the phone, it was delivered on Saturday brand new directly from Orange. Now the price dropped to £69 I went for it. According to Orange, the sim card should arrive tomorrow. Not that it's much use at the mo. Have tried what you recommend above (as some other threads about holding down the volume up button while turning on) but the phone just starts as normal. After the green android the orange logo appears and then starts into the unlock pattern.

Can anyone suggest anything else? I'm surprised at Orange though - I thought they could do something yet their support people when I phoned stated nothing can be done unless the password pattern is removed. I asked about returning it to them so they could 'do something' but the reply was the same. They (so they claimed) do not fix or repair them. They did ask if I wanted another at the same price and they would send a pre-paid envelope for me to return the locked one for recylcling!

I wondering if you are doing it right :/

Can you try powering on the device with the volume down button and the power button.

It should reach the stock recovery. let me know what happens when you do that..
