Budget in-ear headphones that are loud enough with the blade

I know there has been a fair few topics about the low volume the blade outputs, but it is clear some earphones work much better then others in the Blade.

I am looking to pick up a cheap set as my current Denon set are just to quite for everyday use ( http://www.iheadphones.co.uk/denon-ah-c751-bk.html ). I was thinking of picking up some cx300 or ep-630 .

Let me know what earphones you are using with your blade and how loud they can get.

Sennheiser cx200 which are almost exactly the same as the 300's play loud enought at half volume on a, rather noisy, bus journey. I did apply an audio boost zip file for cwm 3.x.x.x but wheather it works seems controversial and I haven't tested it to see.

I use sennheiser CX500's which i picked up from amazon for about £10-15, they are very good, I highly recommend them.

I applied the patch previously but it didn't seem to change to volume as far as I could tell. It's such a shame the blade came with such a poor headphone jack. Glad to hear Sennheiser phones work well!

My response is that CM7 sucks for audio. I'm sorry I dont know what ROM you use. I just tend too find that CM is lower than anything. On stock/JJ/FLB I keep volume at 3/15 with my skullcandys. With CM your looking at 6/15 for the same audio volume output. But with CM i find the audio wierd. If you say 1-4 = 10% volume then 5 - 10 covers 80% volume then 11 - 15 = 130% against other volume levels. But that is just my opinion. Maybe it could be a ROM issue rather than a headphone issue.

I have the CX-300s. theyre great, easily loud enough at about halfway/less on a noisy coach. Very clear and crisp too. FLB r11b, no audio patch.

I have some JVC Marshmallow earphones. Not the greatest earphones ever, but they're loud enough & cheap (£5). Just get some of the 'earplug style' noise isolation earphones that block a lot of outside noise & you should be ok.

My current Denon ones are in-ear fine with my iPod but far to quite with the Blade. Maybe I am just death...

Anyway cx300s sound like they are worth a punt.

I've owned many many earphones in my time and the best Ive owned yet are these Creative £8 earphones.

As good as Sennheiser CX300, cheap, strong wire and gold connection.

The wire is nice and long and seems to be quite stiff so as to avoid tangling.

Most importantly, they are quite loud with the ZTE Blade.

Hi,

CX300's every time, just make sure if you are buying off ebay that you use a reputable UK supplier, I bought some cheap, they were fakes and sounded awful.

All the best

If you use poweramp, you can boost the volume in the EQ section, it has a preamp slider that can do +10, makes it loud enough for any headphone

these.. bought them like 5 times now.. good base, loud and good fit too.. also the quality is not bad.. the chrome bits are metal not plastic.. the problem is that the cables breaks near the connector in 5-6months but thats because mine is always squashed in a pocket  other than that really worth it for 6quid.

I actually think that the 300's dont have gold plating, but the 200's do

I had 300's but lost them and in an attempt to buy new 300's from argos I only got 200's

But they sound just as good to me :)

And yes, I know argos rip you off at £22. But at tescos the 300's are £45!!

Just had a quick look, my CX300s are definitely gold plated.

And I got mine for £15 off Amazon, they're now £17.50:

Try out the Creative EP 630. Cheap and pretty darn good.

In a similar vane to the original question I'd also be interested to know which earphones reduce the hiss during low volumes/quiet segments in songs for people. My old high impedance Klipsch Custom 1's did the trick but they broke just after a year of use so reluctant to pay that sort of money again.

If you're not looking to use it for headset purposes, you could try getting a cheap portable amp like the FiiO E3 or E5. It has very nice volume boosting feature and slight bass boosting switch.

I used to use it for any device which was generally low in volume, works for some old desktop speakers I had with volume issues.

@cedge you need to disable the phone radio (i.e. airplane mode) to prevent hissing.

As someone who does a lot of running I destroy headphones in 3-4 weeks max usually. However I have been using a some Sennheiser in-ears (no idea which model) for about 6 months now not bad for about £10. They are not the loudest but with Volume+ App on CM7 they are OK. The loudest cheaapies I have used are these from Tesco for £6.97: http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.209-6303.aspx They do them in blue for £5.07 but not sure if they are exactly the same.

However they only lasted a month. Mind you the creative ones I had lasted two runs lol. Still if you don't go on 7 hour fell runs they should be OK.

No trouble with volume, its at the lowest it can go, just when listening to music there is a hiss at low volumes i.e. mainly in classical music with my current earphones. Not sure how to disable the phone radio, surely, airplane mode if off anyway unless you turn it on? I'm running FLB 10b firmware.

Do any of these headsets have the capability to switch the radio stations?
