Apologies in advance but another newb question!

Hi all,

I've been reading the forum religiously for the past week after ordering an orange san fran (from the website with quidco and selling the credit to a friend I'm looking at a £57 unit! (cashback permitting)).

I was fully expecting to received a gen2 TFT model. However as is stated at the top of every thread I've read I have downloaded the mr pigfish app which has informed me my device is in fact Gen1! Can I be 100% sure this is correct?

I also don't know whether the device is OLED or not. The Build number in setting is B10.

My plan was to follow http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...or-gen2-device/ and install the latest Swedish Spring ROM.

I'm now a bit worried incase I brick the unit. Can anyone give me a quick step by step guide to...

-Firstly determine if it is OLED or TFT (if this has any bearing on the following steps, if not I'm not too bothered!)

-To determine if the device is gen1 or gen2

-Back up my phone so it can be restored if need be.

-Root the device

-Upgrade the Gen2 (if needed)

-Flash with Swedish Spring.

I'm normally OK doing this sort of thing, however the Build number and pigfish turning up Gen1 has completely thrown me and knocked any confidence I have out the window.

Once again I know these sorts of questions get asked regularly but I would really like to avoid doing something irreversible to my brand new unit!

22/Apr [GUIDE] How to Install a Custom ROM on the ZTE u-v880 or [GEN2] device, Superuser / Clockwork / ZTE-Blade Recovery Manager (Use the root guide and clockwork guides)

[ROM] [froyo] Swedish Spring RLS5 [2011-04-19] [OLED+TFT] [Gen1][Gen2]

Or should I avoid doing the Gen1 -> Gen2 switch?

How can I back up my current stock rom to revert back to if it all goes wrong?

Dont worry Swedish Springs supports both OLED and TFT, GEN1 or GEN2, so you wont go wrong. Ignore the Guide for GEN2 devices (2nd link), as that is only for phones originally GEN2
