Guest KenBW2 Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 https://market.android.com/details?id=com.g...e.android.music Why can't I get this on my phone? I'm gonna guess it's either CM's replacement of the stock player with its own incarnation, or it's a US only update. Ideas?
Guest mELIANTE Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 Your answer is in the app description in the very page you link.
Guest KenBW2 Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 Your answer is in the app description in the very page you link. That not referring to the new usic streaming service?
Guest mELIANTE Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 That not referring to the new usic streaming service? Yes, but I reckon that if the service is only available in the US the app will be too? Anyway, you might be able to get it elsewhere if you ask google it self ^^
Guest Richard_Arkless Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 (edited) I used market access to emulate the tmobile US network, if you want I can use titanium backup to extract the apk EDIT: here you gocom.google.android.music.apk.zip Edited May 11, 2011 by Richard_Arkless

Can't remember exactly where I got them from (was it xda?), but the music app was the only one that didn't fc, and I've been using it since then instead of the default one as it was slightly better... If this official version proves to be different I might give it a try... Thx Edit: just noticed, the version number of my app is 3.0.336 Edit: ok just tried the apk you uploaded, but funnily enough the Settings button is no longer available :P so no version number to be found  I think it also contained the media streaming settings, although they seemed to be disabled... If I have the occasion I'll try and find where I got it from, or I'll upload the apk :) Edited May 11, 2011 by Guest

Little drawback: I'm on CM7 and there is an option to make the disc cover and track name appear on the lockscreen; this appears to be broken with the new app. Music controls are still there, obviously, as for any other music app, but it was quite nice to have this additional info directly on the lockscreen... :) Can't figure out any solution to this actually, unless the cm devs get interested in this new app

Guest squidlr Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 The new Google music application is awful in comparison to CM7. Very disappointing. Already uninstalled never to be used again!
Guest fonix232 Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Actually it's pretty damn good looking. Even got the 3D album browser, looks fantastic and NOT LAGGY AT ALL! Only lag is on the Tracks list, IDK why...

Thanks for the info! The new Google music application is awful in comparison to CM7. Very disappointing. Already uninstalled never to be used again! Well, tbh I can't find much difference between those... the default cover colors might not be the best of choices, but the app runs quite smoothly and the sliding option is rather cool... Guest fonix232 Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 Installed on CM7 without a problem  I can't see why it is a problem for you! The stock music app's packagename is com.android.music while this is com.google.android.music!

I could install without any issues, it's just that cm lockscreen's specific functionalities are not compatible. This appears to be normal considering what kenBW revealed

Guest Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 what if you change the CM7 lockscreen slider to the old style tabs rather than the rotary ones? does that make a difference? Just tried :) but no luck :P As stated before it's not a gingerbread functionality, it's a cm dev
Guest remlap Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 Tried this on CM7 so slow in comparison, I am quiet used to using MIUI skinned music player.
