People there in Italy could update his Galaxy Tab over KIES to Android 2.3.3.

The Galaxy Tab is the second device of Samsung who is getting officially Android 2.3.3. updates over KIES.

If you have a look at the galaxy tab forums on XDA, in the development section, you will find versions of the italy/GB rom available to flash. One is virtual stock, the other is custom. both seem nippier than froyo.

I have gingerbread from xda complete with the rooted kernel 3.3 I was unable to to get root to install the mcr froyo and now i am very happy to have the tablet specific rom on my tab

Tablet specific ROM??? Android 2.3 has nothing to do with tablets! It is still a smartphone OS!
