Guest Ciels Posted May 11, 2011 Report Posted May 11, 2011 I've looked at the old methods and I can't seem to find any related model build under Cyanogen menus? It seems near true that I've lucked out again and received another OLED replacement but I can't tell. Any quick method?

If you just received a replacement, I highly doubt you have a OLED, all new OSFs are TFT now.
Guest Roph Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 It saddens me that there are people likely going around with OLED blades who don't even know the difference, and wouldn't be able to tell just by looking at the screen. If you can't tell the difference, why is it important to you? One is not inherently "better" than the other, IPS LCD and Pentile OLED both have advantages / disadvantages.
Guest hotwire74 Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 I had an OLED that I knew was definately OLED as I'd bought it a week after Orange started selling the handset. The touchscreen went faulty and a couple of weeks ago Orange sent me a replacement. I've run *983*0# from the dialer (I'm using SS R5) and I only get options to test LCD functionality so I'm pretty sure I've got an LCD now but I honestly can't tell the difference between it and my old OLED handset so I've either got an OLED and the *983*0# isn't telling me I have or it's an LCD and the difference between an OLED and LCD screens is tiny cos I can't see the difference. I'm just happy I have a phone with a working touchscreen now

It's subtle difference, we know mister. I don't mind either one, but that isn't the point. I wouldn't be shocked if my phone wasn't oled. Guest Azurren Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Before selling mine I double checked if it were OLED.. Had to flash the stock orange 2.1 via TPT  A good quality LCD screen can look as nice as an OLED, but the ones used on the newer SFs are defiantly NOT good quality! Not enough to put people off the device but OLED is better with the Blade Although some users have the better type of LCD/TFT screen, I've seen one and it doesn't look that bad. My streaks screen is pretty good too, nice black levels and colours but sometimes miss the OLED
Guest Roph Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 My point was, there are people who have to ask "how" to find out whether or not their screen is OLED or TFT. They can't tell just by looking at it. Thus demonstrating that they don't really know about the technology, and it's most likely going to waste on them.

Im guessing the only reason people ask is because they want to sell it? Because as you say its pretty pointless.. If you can't tell the difference just by looking at it why would you want to potentially disappoint yourself?
Guest Ciels Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 (edited) Any relevant ideas regarding the first post? Edited May 12, 2011 by Ciels
Guest Azurren Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 (edited) Good to know  Everyone else: Any relevant ideas regarding the first post? If you had a Orange UK type device you could use this TPT http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-2011-oled-tft/ Then run the dialler code to tell your version I'm a bit out of date here, some newer models can't flash this. Use at your own risk Or you could use the "eye" test. Turn the brightness right down and look at white colours for the "pink" tint Turn the brightness up max in a pitch black room, look at a black colour and see if any light is coming from the device (should be close to 0 as there is no back-light) This is the correct dialler code: *983*24474636# Any glass type except "Samsung" is LCD/TFT Edited May 12, 2011 by Azurren

"SAMSUNG 4G NAND" very well suggests that I have another OLED. I knew I wasn't going crazy when I didn't see a change. Thanks. Here's my thoughts again: If you just received a replacement, I highly doubt you have a OLED, all new OSFs are TFT now.
