Guest gingenzo Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 (edited) Hi! I've got a Acer Liquid E and I use leogingerbread rom but when I try to increase clock (even to 883 Mhz) it became very unstable and it freeze in few minutes. If I try to get up to 998 or more, it freeze immediately. It's normal or it's just a problem of my phone? I tried also MIUI and CM7 kang but it's the same... Thank you Edited May 12, 2011 by gingenzo

My liquid is stable at 921 MHz. Only a few can go higher.
Guest gingenzo Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Quite normal. My liquid is stable at 921 MHz. Only a few can go higher. I can't use it nether to 883 MHz  how unlucky!
Guest Auxx Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 And I can use it just fine on ANY frequence! I'm VERY lucky!
Guest umair9001 Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 And I can use it just fine on ANY frequence! I'm VERY lucky! Same here..i go till 1Ghz..even i think it might be possible for more that that, didn't try..
Guest Delnar_Ersike Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 The max frequency your phone can go up to stably is also ROM-dependent. For example, I know from experience that my device is stable even @1036Mhz (that's higher than the usual maximum of 998), yet there was a version of LCR where my phone would freeze if it went higher than 920Mhz.

Guest AcerFerrari Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 The answer from Acer (I was so stupid that I called the Acer Customer Service and asked why my Liquid cannot go to 921MHz or higher) is that: "Each piece of CPU is different, some is well-made but some are a little bit not that good......That's why we set the maximum frequency to 768MHz but not 1GHz."

Guest Splux Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 (edited) he is right XD well actually acer bought "broken" snapdragons underclocked them and used them for our liquids ... Even though I doubt they are broken, they are just not as stable as the snapdragon in Nexus One. And since some users can O/C to 1GHz (me included :)) without any problems at all. I can almost bet that they have tested one CPU, the one they tested were unstable @ 1GHz=they sell every single CPU from that line as 786MHz CPU instead of 1GHz. Can be compared with AMD's tripplecore CPUs'. It is the same princip: they test only a few of everyone they made in that line, if one of them fails they disable the broken core and sells eveyone from the line as tripplecore. But, if you are man enough you can unlock the disabled core (but you void your warranty, also same here. O/C=no warranty) and have a quadcore instead! And I have probably misunderstood your point, but I blame being tired. Hmm... wonder if it is possible to unlock the full BIOS in an HP ProBook... Gah, time to sleep before I do something stupid! *edit* Ohye, Just to point one thing out: if you are that unlucky guy who got the CPU that failed the test, you are damn unlucky. That's probably like 0.1% chance or something... Edited May 15, 2011 by Splux
Guest Morris Lee Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Mine is VERY rom dependent, FroyoMetal works fine at 998, where as thepasto's latest CM7.1 release is not so OC friendly, even 921 can't hang on.
Guest rithchen Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 I can't use it nether to 883 MHz  how unlucky! You can try my fix2 kernel, maybe you can get 883mhz XD
Guest Chewy11 Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 My Liquid E, from what I read, is one of the more stable ones. Previous ROMs could run @998 without hangs, even had a few ROMs that could handle 1036(but hung TOO often) thepasto's latest CM7.1 release is not so OC friendly, 998 softboots a few times a day...not enough for me to go to 960 or 921 tho good luck Would phone build dates make a difference or maybe source(carrier provided or unlocked)?
Guest RYRAN Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 my liquid e gets to 1024mhz and sometimes higher
Guest JF-Gino ld Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 I too could not overclock my phone at all on T&L - BUT on stock firmware I was able to have 998mhz stable?!! LOL - it can be very firmware dependent. You just have to be lucky under a few conditions. rithchen's fix2 Kernel is the best kernel I have used. Its perfectly stable at 883mhz and everything works - best with T&L - my acer feels just as fast as galaxy.
