Guest anotherbob Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Just moved to Talkmobile from GiffGaff because I couldn't get MMS working. People said it was because the OSF was not recognised by O2 which GiffGaff uses. Now I find I have the same problem with Talkmobile!! I have manually entered the Talkmobile APN from the website. I can get data connection and I can send and receive SMS, but I can't send or receive picture messages. There's another wierd aspect to this.... if I try to send a MMS while the data connection is on, it turns off and I have to reboot the phone to reconnect data. Also I keep getting a notification that my Google account is not syncing. I am using Sebastian's deorangeated 2.1 ROM (r8) Any ideas anyone?
Guest dav_dako Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Did you follow the settings on the talkmobile website for android setup? http://www.talkmobile.co.uk/settings/settingsandroid1.html They neglected to mention that you also need to put a * in the APN TYPE box, everything works fine for me with those settings.

I replaced the word "default" with a * and it still doesn't work. Edited May 12, 2011 by anotherbob
Guest dav_dako Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Have you tried a factory reset? or any other ROMs?
Guest anotherbob Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Have you tried a factory reset? or any other ROMs? Not yet. I had thought a reset would be my next step. Does it matter which SIM is in the phone when I do it. I have the original Orange SIM but I never activated it.
Guest dav_dako Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 (edited) Shouldn't make a difference. Remember to back stuff up if theres anything important you have on the phone before resetting. EDIT: These are my settings if you want to compare before doing a reset. Name: Talkmobile APN: talkmobile.co.uk Proxy:212.183.137.012 Port: 8799 Username: wap Password: wap Server: MMSC: http://mms.talkmobile.co.uk/servlets/mms MMS Proxy: 212.183.137.012 MMS Port: 8799 APN TYPE: * Edited May 12, 2011 by dav_dako

Yes those are the same as I have on mine. When I put the Talkmobile SIM in the phone and checked the APNs there were two talkmobile ones there, not available for editing. I added the one from their website so now I have three Talkmobile APNs. The non-editable one is not the same as the one they give for Android on the website, but they both work for data connection. The other one is called Talkmobile MMS and does not have a radio button beside it. Edit update. Done reset. Still no MMS. Message just sits there with the little red circle meaning not sent. Just about ready to give up and get a different phone. Another update. Installed Japanese Jellyfish R9 on the phone. Install went smoothly. Still wontt send MMS, message now says "cannot connect". Data connection is fine, everthing else OK. Edited May 13, 2011 by anotherbob
Guest irishpancake Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 Hi, From my limited experience, in Ireland on the Tesco Mobile Network here, which piggy-backs on our O2, you need Two APN entries for the ZTE Blade. One Default, and another for MMS..... See my post linked below, and feel free to amend settings as necessary: boards.ie - View Single Post - ZTE Blade / Orange San Francisco Hope this helps, even a little. Cheers.... c'mon JedWard
