Guest Taptap1 Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Hi, KaltKaffee did a great work with his converter but didn't upgraded it for a long time. Because of the easy method to "upgrade" with TPT to Gen2. I hope that with this Poll it will be more clear if it make sense to continue working on the converter. And try to convince KaltKaffee continuing work
Guest solidslash Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 I've actually settled down on RC4 (yes, rc4 for gen1!) for quite some time. I'm eagerly waiting for some sensors and sound love in the nightlies and then I'm going to upgrade to gen2 using the brilliant wbaw's tpt method.

Guest solidslash Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 (edited) Well yea, "as long as the converter is working". Going to gen2 and backwards is too easy to fiddle around with converters instead. Edited May 12, 2011 by solidslash

Guest Taptap1 Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 For everybody who is still using the latest gen1 CM7. You can intsall the newest CM7 update without wiping or updating to Gen2 then install the Converter, which will convert your Gen2 CM7 into a Gen1 CM7. CM7 Converter

Guest Kthulhu Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 I use KK method because I hate to wipe and reinstall everything, so far working very good I have tried several G2 nightlies in my "vintage" G1 OLED SF. I do not think I will jump to G2 totally until CM7 is really super stable & bug free. The only thing that worries me about KK method is the modified kernel he used.
Guest hedgepigdaniel Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 If you don't want to use CM7, then you might want to stay on Gen1. But if you use CM7, there is definitely a reason to upgrade to Gen2. There is no point in KK wasting his time upgrading his converter when going to Gen2 is as easy as downloading a file and pressing 2 buttons. By using his converter you reintroduce old bugs in CM7 that have been fixed and exclude yourself from any new improvements in the kernel (most of which are important). When you report bugs in threads here you confuse things because you don't know whether your bugs exist in the latest CM7 versions.
