Hello

I might be sounding really thick here, but does anyone know how the copy avi and mp3 files onto my Vega.

I have tried putting tablet into USB debugging mode and copying files onto sd card, and removing SD card from Vega inserting it into pc and copying files over. But as soon as i turn on my Vega and it says prepairing SD card it deletes them  and i don't know what i'm doing wrong.

Cheers

Simon

Doesn't mean it's not fake.

Where did you get it? Don't tell me, eBay ?

Anyway, debug mode has nothing to do with copying files to your SD. In fact, you need it off. If you switch it on, then off (just because it's a qiuck way to do this) Android will ask if you want to turn on USB Storage. Say yes. SD Card will then appear as a drive on your PC.

I've done some more messing around today trying to transfer files, and i have found that if i copy a folder over with say 10 songs in using the usb lead they copy over fine, and i can play them through the pc, but as soon as i turn off USB storage all the Mp3 files are moved into the LOST.DIR and converted in text files of the same mb size.

The SD card is a 32gb SanDisk which i got off Play.com, i'm sure it's nothing to do with the card now because of the LOST.DIR finding

do you have another card reader for your pc? what happens in you copy files to your sd on your pc (not using the vega at all) then put the sd card in your vega? do all files show up? do they dissapear after a reboot?

Hello. If i remove the SD card and insert it into my laptop and copy the files onto it using they still end up in the LOST.DIR as well

not sure what could cause that

I presume when the vega mounts the sd card it checks all the files (im presuming this because ive noticed the more stuff on an sd card the longer it takes to mount it maybe someone can confirm this?)

the only thing I can think is that for some reason it believes the files to be either incomplete or corrupted and therefore moves them to the LOST.DIR

I think the first thing id do is try a different sd card obviously if this does the same you can pretty much count out it being the sd card itself

the next thing id look at is the rom you have installed

variosu roms have various changes to the mounting scripts so there is always a change something didn’t install correctly or got corrupted or generally went wrong on the rom install its always worth reflashing to to be sure its all ok

Hmmm. LOST.DIR is kind of a recycle bin for Android. Are you deleting lots of files on your card from the PC, then taking out the card (or disconnecting) without ejecting it? Bad idea if so. You'll get away with it for small things but for lots of large files like music and images, you're dodging a bullet by not ejecting.

If not, then your card is probably bad and Android is attempting to recover corrupt files. Try reformatting it. If you have clockworkmod, do it there. Otherwise, on your PC (and eject it afterwards!).

Sounds like your sd card is knackered

I had a similar issue with a card I got off ebay

Try another test, copy your files onto the SD card make sure it is a reasonable amount. Eject the card from your pc then insert again and see if all the files show up

I would suspect this will show some of your files missing, if so RMA the card back to play

Thanks for replys.

It looks like the sd card is knackered and is going back, i formated the card and also reflashed my vega while i was waiting, copied a couple of mp3 onto card and they showed up and played on Vega sorted i thought i'll put some more on but all songs even the first lot ended up in the LOST folder.

So it's either the sd card faulty, or my vega doesn't like my taste in music and is trying to tell me

Vegas ship from the factory with a special chip which detects Spice Girls, all X Factor contestants and judges, Ken Dodd, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Britney and any other tracks with similar styles. It then deals with them in the appropriate manner so I guess your kimono is open

If you're having trouble it might be worth using the Advent Tansfer Companion to copy your media across. I found it in the VegaMedia directory on my SD card.
