Guest Azurren Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 Hi guys, I'm new to the Streak but not to Android This is the first device that has defeated me ;) I managed to get root access after jumping through hoops with a lot of "outdated" guides on this site (Not compatible with Froyo 2.2.2, although they don't mention this) But when I attempted to flash StreakDroid I ran into these problems: * BaseBand. This is the first device I have ever needed to check / flash radios. Can't find any way to check or install on these forums or Google. Do I need to change it? * Recovery (StreakMod / Clockwork). Apparently Clockwork can't create or restore Nandroid backups  And StreakMod can't make a Nandroid Backup until after you have flashed a custom rom Which completely defeats the purpose of nandroid backups * Temporary recovery? You need to be at a PC whenever you need to enter recovery? After flashing the rom without creating a nandroid backup (Wiped data and cache) my device went into a strange boot loop (Where it would loop at the StreakDroid logo and flash a lock screen before semi rebooting :) So I had to re-flash the stock recovery and reflash the 2.2.2 rom Where did I go wrong? Is all the above true? My version info: Baseband: GAUSB1A135100-EU Kernal: 2.6.32.9-perf Build: 15609 Factory Unlocked Any help would be appreciated :P
Guest jmhalder Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 you're already using a current Baseband, no need to upgrade for StreakDroid 1.9.0. as far as the recovery actually STAYING installed, you need to rename or remove the "etc/install-recovery.sh" file, use root explorer to do so. Install the custom rom, then use the factory reset option at the screen prior to the recovery image being loaded.

Thanks I would try it now but don't really want to lose all my settings / data if it fails.. Anyway to do a nandroid or any other backup on the streak? Nandroid backup gets stuck at "Backing up first boot" As far as I know (Found out) its a known issue fixed by installing a custom rom

Actually I have used streadmod recovery for a while now and the nandriod backups work just fine. If you use clockwork the backups will fail. I am using a custom rom Since you are on 351 you should be able to install 1.9.0, you will need a custom recovery. You will need a computer to do this. Head over to XDA to this thread; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000455 Download and install the multirecovery flasher and install clockwork or streakmod. The multirecovery flasher runs on a computer. You need to connect to your streak to do this. Hopefully you already have 1.9.0 on the sd card. Reboot the streak into recovery and select the option to select the file to install from SD and away you will go. Actually sounds like you have already done this. Edited May 15, 2011 by Alperin.1
Guest Alperin.1 Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 (edited) Also, you may want to clear the delvic cache before you install 1.9.0. Your data on the external SD card will there when you are done. I think your data from 351 may stay also. I have had to rebuild my streak, I used Google to backup my contacts with the sync. I use Appbrain to reinstall my apps. You need to sync them first and they will be listed for you later. Edited May 15, 2011 by Alperin.1

Google automatically reinstalled my apps and managed to setup all my phone settings in less than 5mins (Obey had to do this so many times its sad ) I have no idea why the factory reset option in StreakMod doesn't actually work (correctly anyway) but streakdroid is nice and fast :) I tried the multi recovery tool.. Maybe it has something to do with windows 7 64bit or the fact that I run the system on a seperate partition but I found it muuuuuuch easier just to manually flash it with a quickly bodged .bat file.

Good to see you are all set. A .bat file is the way to go. Actually the multirecovery is nothing but a beefed up bat.
