Guest superutp Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 thank you for that...I particularly like your sparce use of english...........very refreshing  I find your inability to search this forum also highly refreshing...:)
Guest carpfanatic Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 I find your inability to search this forum also highly refreshing... hi From what I see there are alot who cannot search the forum. When new to android and then directed to a thread that is 6 pages long and very technical its nit surprising. Hence it was simpler to ask ...is there gingerbread? regards
Guest XsCode Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 hi From what I see there are alot who cannot search the forum. Why? When new to android and then directed to a thread that is 6 pages long and very technical its nit surprising. If they don't understand what is being said, they should either do a bit of research to learn the technical stuff or not mess with a £400 gadget in ways that could turn it into a £400 paperweight
Guest carpfanatic Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 (edited) Why? If they don't understand what is being said, they should either do a bit of research to learn the technical stuff or not mess with a £400 gadget in ways that could turn it into a £400 paperweight when research is done it is usually published it seems pointless doing it again. It has always appeared to me that people who know a lot about a subject don't understand why others don't. And I didn't want to trawl the site for and answer to one simple question, I don't want to be an expert on android. So again thank you for your to the point and concise answer...it was very refreshing. By the way mine only cost £199 at Tesco but they have stopped stocking them now. best regards Edited May 14, 2011 by carpfanatic
Guest XsCode Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 There's a difference between research for the community (like steve) and research for personal learning reasons.. It's basic etiquette to search the forum to see if the answer has already been provided rather than clog up the database with the same question 100's of times over. How could the original question have been answered so it would please you? you asked if something was available and you were told no is wasn't... It has always appeared to me that people who know a lot about a subject don't understand why others don't. It has always appeared to me that people who don't understand that it's very annoying answering the same questions over and over when it's quicker and easier to use the SEARCH, don't see they are being very ignorant or lack basic social skills.

I am saying if I buy a new car I don't have to understand it....I can ask a mechanic who has much more knowledge,, and before anyone says "You have to pay the mechanic" I agree and am prepared to donate if needed. I did a search for Gingerbread and it did not really help so I thought one question to the experts on line would produce "yea or nay" it did. best regards
Guest Amdathlonuk Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 LOL...........I love this forum.
Guest carpfanatic Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 LOL...........I love this forum. Hi I do too....but OK I promise not to clog up the database by asking silly questions Well not today anyway Best regards to all
Guest Amdathlonuk Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 Hi I do too....but OK I promise not to clog up the database by asking silly questions Well not today anyway Best regards to all It wasn't a dig at anyone, I was just laughing at how this thread panned out. We can clog up this thread though, it's already started and in the database!

We can clog up this thread though, it's already started and in the database! :P On a vaguely related note I find it both sad and ironic that I have gingerbread running on my Nook (a cheap ereader and it runs very nicely) while it is unavailable on my expensive smartphone. Heck honeycomb even mostly runs.... bj

The Streak however, as far as I know, has one man (Admittedly a brilliant man) but one man all the same Plus the streak isn't exactly the easiest device to mod / develop for. The ZTE Blade (Cheap as chips android device) has a fully fledged Cyanogen mod 7 port as well as a "proof of concept" honeycomb port. And that device is fairly new! Most people are put off by its size / purpose.. Its not a popular device and I am just thankful its had any dev input at all :P
