Guest trevor432990 Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 (edited) I recently upgraded my PC browser to Firefox 4 which seems reasonably fast but I noticed Modaco was being rather slow loading pages but I think I've found the solution so if you are having the same issue then here's what to do. In Firefox go to this download site and install the NoScript add-on to your browser then restart Firefox and things should speed up a little. It seems Modaco have switched on Skimlinks on the site and that does tend to slow things up a bit. Presume there are similar addons/plugins for other browsers but I'm afraid I don't know what they are. Hope this is of some help to you. P.S. This fix works for earlier versions of FF as well Edited May 14, 2011 by trevor432990

The page loads awefull slow when I am in China and I see special "loading resources from skimlinks" or something like that for up to a minute.
Guest simonta Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 If you care about speed, then Firefox might not be your best bet at all. It's all got a bit lardy in the last few releases. Chrome and IE beat it for sheer grunt. I use IE for the heavy lifting and Chrome for "browse and shoot".

Guess I've got used to Firefox and its add-ons which mean I can tweak it to how I want to run but if it does get too slow for me I shall definitely try some of the others out. Cheers.
Guest bigsman Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 Cheers for the tip bud...also on FF4 and could see the wee dialogue at the bottom re: the skim thing loading. Right pain in the you know what when the page wouldn't scroll...
Guest Vansphone Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Thanks for the tip, I will give it a try. I have also upgraded to Firefox 4 and noticed Modaco has been loading very slowly. I do not seem to have a similar problem with many other pages.
