Guest flambeau2 Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 Hi there! I had just bought a POV Mobii Tegra 10.1” and I found out that I can flash Advent Vega image on POV. I’ve read lots of info but I’m still in doubt about how to do it properly. Some – if not all - of my questions my sound dumb (and they are dumb, indeed  ) but keep in mind that I’ve never used Linux nor Android before, so I’m used to double click-next-next-next-installed :) Some stuff I read: http://blog.fh-kaernten.at/wehr/2011/01/31...how-to-pimp-it/ http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...p-update-guide/ and a lot from here http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...guides-how-tos/ So, my questions are 1. how do I flash Vegas into Mobii? Can I simply “paste” Vegas image “over” Mobii image? I mean, can I merely plug Mobbi to my PC using USB cable (OK, I’m aware about the holding buttons procedure) then flash it with 1.09 Vega image by following these instructions http://www.myadventvega.co.uk/full_system_...nstructions.pdf and, zomg, I got a Vegas? Then I install USB driver, is it correct? 2. What is ADB people talk about so much and where can I find it ? 3. Do I need to install kernel (WTF is kernel anyway ;)) 4. I read in a lot of places that “if you change between different ROMs (not an upgrade of a ROM) you MUST wipe data, cache and dalvik-cache”. Does installing Modaco or Corvus ROM into Vegas mean changing between different ROMs? And How do I wipe data, cache and dalvik-cache? 5. I want to install Corvus5 (newbe5 and Corvus teamed ROM) or MoDaCo Custom ROM with Online Kitchen, which one do you prefer? So, for now, I guess it is only this :P. Sorry for my crap English and those silly questions and thank you for wasting your time reading and answering them :o
Guest dadoftriplets Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 I really can't give you any specific answers to your questions, as I have only flashed my Vega for the first time yesterday - thought it was really difficult at first, not knowing what everyone was going on about, but I followed a PDF found on here which guided me through the whole process of setting your PC in the correct manner to allow you to install the MoDaCo Rom. The PDF made the process seem really simple to do. From what I have read, AFAIK The Advent Vega is 'unbrickable' I would assume this is because there is the buttons on the side to allow the user to gain access to the recovery mode and to install the standard ROM back on - again I am talking about the Vega - yours may be similar but I am no expert so I would suggest waitign for other Fm to see your post The PDF found here http://android.modaco.com/index.php?act=at...st&id=70877 will guide you through the whole process of installing The MoDaCo Rom onto the Advent Vega. I would recommend waiting on some of the more experienced members to see your post before doing anything though
Guest beegee1962 Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Check the following threads: Advent Vega - ROMs / Software Updates / Guides / How Tos, Links to ROMs, Flash Updates, Guides, Misc apk's for an overview of guides and help. For USB driver problems (I am sure you run into them) check YAUDIG[XP][VISTA][7] - USB driver guides, Yet Another USB Driver Install Guide and [bETA] AUDI - Automated USB Driver Installer, Automatically installs the drivers you need to install ROMs I wrote as well a small tutorial about Advent Vega – Steps to flash a new ROM. Hope this is a good start for you. Keep in mind that with the original stock ROM (the one which is now on your tablet) your USB is in HOST mode, which means you cannot easily connect to a PC. So best first step would be to flash a Advent Vega Stock ROM from MyAdventVega. Check the Advent Vega FULL software update manual on information how to flash it. And last but not least! As long as you do not supply your tablet with 110V, step on it (some users here did this  ) or throw it out of your window, these tablets are nearly unbrickable. They have a special bootloader, called NVFlash recovery, which is never overwritten, whatever ROM you try. You can always go back to a stock ROM, whatever you did to mess up your tablet.
