Guest Batlin Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 (edited) Hi all. I need to flash stock ROM so i can upgrade from honeycomb alpha4 to beta1. The problem is I'm running Linux and I would like to know if is it possible to flash stock ROM on Linux because It looks like you need Windows in order to execute softwareImage.exe once you started recovery mode. Thanks for your help, Edited May 15, 2011 by Batlin

Thanks for your help, :) Wouldn't the "install-linux.sh" command do everything you need on your Linux desktop machine ?

I only have softwareImage_v1.09_Vega_Final.exe and I don't know what to do with it... Thanks anyway!
Guest simonta Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Sorry but I don't know what you mean when you say that command, because i haven't that sh file. First of all, doesn't need to be stock. If you haven't installed an alpha of Vegecomb, just wipe then install Vegacomb beta. If you have installed an alpha, then flashing any other ROM first will do the trick. If you definitely want stock: 1. Download any other ROM that uses the flash method, not the ADB. I think FujiVega is an example. 2. Unzip the Advent update (it's a self extracting EXE so any ZIP tool should unpack it) 3. Replace all of the IMG files in the ROM you downloaded with the ones from the unzipped stock ROM. 4. Run the installer for the ROM

Guest Batlin Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Correct me if I'm wrong please but: Could i use VegaComb-Alpha4 flashing method to get back to stock ROM replacing all of the IMG files in the VegaComb-Alpha4 ROM with the ones from the unzipped stock ROM and executing Restore_Linux.sh? Thank you!
Guest Zebrahead Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Correct me if I'm wrong please but: Could i use VegaComb-Alpha4 flashing method to get back to stock ROM replacing all of the IMG files in the VegaComb-Alpha4 ROM with the ones from the unzipped stock ROM and executing Restore_Linux.sh? Thank you! This is correct. The stock installer (.exe) is just a zipped version of nvflash. You'll find nvflash compiled for linux in the VegaComb tools directory. You can do whatever you like with your VEGA using that ^^ (You should be able to find in in nVidias sdk I think too) Zeb

Thank you! Yes, but you also need to copy flash.cfg as the partition sizes are different.
Guest Batlin Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Okay, thank you both! I'm going to copy all files from stock rom and going to flash it now! Hope everything works fine (cross fingers)
Guest Zebrahead Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Okay, thank you both! I'm going to copy all files from stock rom and going to flash it now! Hope everything works fine (cross fingers) It may be easier, rather than replacing all of the images, to move nvflash to the directory with the images, and install_linux.sh to the parent directory of the images. That way you know the flash .cfg is correct Zeb
Guest Batlin Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Thank you all! I'm on stock rom now  Going to flash beta1a of VegaComb! Best regards,
