Guest Graham Macleod Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 A strange hardware fault, which I've been living with but might drive me to return. The volume down and back keys seem to have become fused together. Pressing either will both lower the volume and go back. Its consistent and unavoidable. Its also annoying. I've reflashed to stock so I don't think its software. Any ideas?

On some you can re-assign hard keys to do other things like you have mentioned so perhaps you have accidentally done that.

I would remap the keys, but the problem is that each of the conjoined keys is generating two codes. Stuck. However it is very nice to have the back button where the Volume down is. That, i'd miss ;-)

If you haven't tried the 'Button Savior' app that might also be able to resolve matters too. Edited May 15, 2011 by trevor432990

It happened after about six weeks, was working fine before. Worth mentioning that it happens in clockwork recovery too - must be hardware. I bought button savior, but find it decreasingly useful.

All I can suggest is to back-up your apps, wipe the Vega, re-install stock 1.09 from Vega website, then 'before' reloading any apps try the stock browser and see if the hard keys are still messed up. If they are still causing issues then you'll need to return it to PC World or wherever you got it and demonstrate to them the problem.
