Guest MrBod Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Hi. I am having a bit of a strange problem that I hope somebody might have some good ideas to solve. I Bought a San Francisco from the Orange shop 2 weeks ago. I immediately flashed it with Swedish Spring and have been using it with my 3 SIM since. All was working fine until Friday night. I left it on USB charge overnight and when I got up in the morning it was showing "No service" the battery had not charged and the back of the phone was warmer than I would expect. The hottest bit was towards the top, near to the camera. I took out the battery to reset the phone, but it did not make any difference. Likewise swapping the battery for a spare. My 3 SIM works fine in another phone and an Orange SIM works fine in the OSF. I have tried a Clockwork recovery to a backup from when the phone was working, but this has made no difference. I suspect that I will have to reflash back to the Stock ROM and take it back to the shop, but if there is any way to fix this I would be happier.

Did you unlock the network before flashing the new rom? I know for some people flashing new roms bypasses the need to network unlock but it doesn't seem to work permanently, They have to reflash stock rom and then network unlock the phone. If you have network unlocked ignore me i know nothing

I did try to relock with Blade Buddy, but it would not lock.

Maybe you can try phone 3 to see what they can help you with regarding the matter, then proceed to contact orange
Guest MrBod Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 OK I have done a bit more experimentation and it looks like the issue is with 3G. The Orange SIM that worked only made a GPRS connection. "3" does not have a 2G network, so the SIM would not connect at all. When I tried with my son's 3 SIM, it worked for a little while. I put my own 3 SIM back in and that worked for a few seconds before going to no service again. Is there a radio update available for the Blade which might help resolve this? Also, I cannot work out while the charging problem started at the same time. I do not think that this can be a coincidence. Looking more and more like it is back to the shop.
Guest Phoenix Silver Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 To be sure it's an hardware problem i would try with another rom Just do a backup in clockwork of the current rom and install FLB 11b (another excellent 2.2 rom)
Guest mr. grapes Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 since having my OSF since the first week of launch, and running on three since day 1, I have had a similar problem about 3 times. basically, every so often, the 3 network decides to 'ignore' my phone, showing no service for an extended period of time. sometimes it will flicker into service if i go into an orange 2G fallback area, but that doesn't usually last long. I can usually solve this by putting the sim back in an original '3' phone (my old e71) for a while, after which, the network will recognise the OSF again. I haven't bothered to chase this up with 3 yet as i intend to leave them for tesco (i have the sim and contract, but haven't requested my PAC code yet...)

I have now flashed back to the stock rom ready to take back and it is still showing the same issues. Hopefully I will get the change to swap it tomorrow. I have put the SIM back into my Nokia 5800 and it logs onto the 3 network straight away. Put it back into the OSF and it will sometimes show "3" for 10-15 seconds before going back to no service,
