Need some expert help on this one. I've googled loads but cannot find a solution.

I'm also very new to this, so be gentle.

Here's my problem: I cannot connect to anything via Wifi. I can browse the web, visit the market etc etc with wifi turned off, but with wifi turned on ... nada!! :)

History: I rooted my HTC Desire HD recently (using VISIONary) and took out some annoying apps (via adb shell), such as Stocks, Peep and Flickr. Now maybe I've deleted something I shouldn't, but I thought I was being very careful.

I've also clocked the phone using Buzz_sense_1.3.8.3_OCUV, and it appears stable at 1.2GHz (used setCPU)

So Far: I followed a thread to check my wifi is OK and the router is OK, there are no security issues, I trashed all my settings and re-did them, I got a ping app and pinged the router successfully. I use AndFTP app on my phone and that reported a java.net.SocketException: No route to host.

ROM Manager reports "the ROM you are using does not support OTA updates"

The Market app reports "A network error has occured"

WiFi settings says I'm connected, but I cannot browse to anywhere on my phone through Wifi. It's driving me nuts.

Any ideas guys?

I have exactly the same problem.

Desire HD, downgraded, rooted with visionary, s-off'd, updated to 2.3.3, re-rooted with Gingerbreak.

Everything works apart from ftp using various programs. Always a 'java.net.SocketException: No route to host' error.

Tried redoing the Voda settings and checking the wifi settings, but Firefox works perfectly for on both Wifi and 3G.

Before downgrade/root, everything was fine with 2.3.3 normal update.

I didn't remove anything, so it's not because items were removed like the previous post. I think it must be something to do with the radio version as it was fine until downgrade/root/upgrade/root.

P.S. I can ftp local on wifi to a local server if I use the IP address of the server. i.e. one on the same network.

Sounds like a DNS issue, I had the same problem.

Bit of a strange one really, I had the same problem on my Windows 7 PC and Desire HD but not on my XP PC not sure why. The router was dishing out the correct DNS address using dynamic settings but the PC and my Desire HD were unable to lookup the host names. Try putting 212.58.244.67 into the browser address if you get the BBC website then the DNS needs to be changed.

I changed mine to the router IP (which in my case is 192.168.0.1) and it now works.

Connect your wifi

Menu - Settings - Wireless and Networks - Wi-Fi settings

Menu - Advanced

Now fill out your static IP settings

Hope it helps
