Guest AJH101 Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 I recently too delivery of a Gen1 San Francisco. I managed to update this to MCRr12 but understand the current stable release is SSr5. As the MCR seems stable (for the most part) is it worth switching? If so is SSr5 a suitable candidate? I understand that SSr5 may require Gen2. Is is straightforward to convert? If so what is the easiest way to do this in order to flash the SS ROM? Thanks in advance! AJH101
Guest KACE_231 Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 SSr5 runs android 2.2 (from an official release), MCR12 is still android 2.1 I believe, so it is an upgrade and is reccomended

Eg, overclocking..,underclocking, governor control etc

Guest Hanks6 Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 been playing with different roms here and i now think FLB Froyo may be the best in terms of smoothness/battery efficiency. it's definitely smoother and with a better battery life than SSRLS5, even if it is built from an earlier leaked rom. my only quibble is that the auto-rotate in FLB is overly sensitive compared to other roms. i will either settle on SS or the FLB for good soon.
Guest sambartle Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 (edited) MCR12 is the only ROM i've been properly happy with. Everything just works.. its rock solid stable (and it is 2.2) Having said that you shoudl try a few and decide.. Do a nand-backup first then you can switch back easily if you decide the same :P Edited May 18, 2011 by sambartle
Guest AJH101 Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 Thanks for the response guys (and sorry for the delay in replying). Can anyone add anything to compare Japanese Spring (or is it Swedish Jellyfish?!) to SS? Thanks AJH101
Guest ThrashMan Posted May 24, 2011 Report Posted May 24, 2011 If you're happy with your phone as it is then stick with what you've got until CyanogenMod 7 is finished (or at least stable). There is generally little difference between the Froyo ROMs.
