Is ZTE Blade reliable enough to work for two or more years? I am not planning to change phone in two years time and I think of buying this (got a great deal)

Well as an electronic device goes, if it is treated correctly then I would say it is more than reliable enough to last for 2 years. Providing you dont tamper or tweak it in anyway you will have the first year of warranty to cover you!

When you get into flashing custom "roms" there is the possibility you can 'brick' your phone, but that is the users fault and not the hardware.

If you buy it, get a decent case and screen protector, treat it well and it will treat you well in return. Throw it against walls and pavements and it might decide to stop working for you..

Well i know a phone case and a screen protector is a must, but won't the internals fail? At the moment I have LG KP500 and I think it is pretty tough. Is ZTE as tough?

The blade punches well above its weight in terms of price vs. performance but the build quality is around what you would expect for a budget smartphone. It certainly isn't as robust as some of the more reputable OEM devices.

I'm trying to buy a second blade for my girlfriend, any chance you could tell me about your great deal?

Mine (about 7 months old) has started randomly shutting down over the weekend. I'm hoping a wipe & re-flash will fix it? As for keeping it for 2 years, I'd hate to see what kind of battery life you'll be getting out of that by the end of that time. I know a couple of people who have to carry their charger around with their phones. I've got spare micro USB cables at work & in the car. It really lets the phone down.

Ebay is full of spare batteries and charging is not a problem, because I don't travel much

I have a 6 months old OLED one and it has that blue flicker over the upper third of the screen when the phone is cold, so thats one potentional flaw, if you will get OLED that is. But with warranty they would give you a replacement, I imported mine so I'm stuck.

Mine worked fine for 6 months but the speaker broke yesterday. No reason: it just stopped working in mid-playback of an mp3 file. Tried a few things to get it going again, but it's just dead. A phone without a speaker is pretty useless. Back to Orange for a replacement. Other people seem to have had this problem.

If you are planning on getting a replacement from Orange as part of an insurance or replacement contract/agreement then beware, they will try to fob you off with an HTC Wildfire.

Mine is still under warranty so it will be a straight replacement or refund. Thanks for the advice anyway.

My speaker just started working again for no obvious reason.

I had my GEN 1 OLED since november 2010. Dropped it few times and it still works and looks like new.

Running Swedish RSL5 rom.

Is it second hand? There aren't many 'good deals' around for OLED models, well done.

I have got it for 2 to 3 months and it feels like it's a good phone. No problems than a battery but if you use some app to save and turn off 3g it should last long enough (a week). Definetly give it a try it's so cheap phone.

Now some off topic question: Anyone know a good rom to save more battery? (having CM7)
