Guest Meezu Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 First of all despite my interest in this topic I do not have the time (nor familiarity with android) necessary to further investigate this issue myself. Therefore I'd like to request people with similar interests to further look into it. Fact 1: - Liquid's standby battery consumption in 2G mode is roughly 0.5% per hour. Fact 2: - The consumption can randomly spike for whatever reasons. Mine while "bugged" is roughly 5% per hour (that's 10x what it should be) and the battery consumption meter is exactly the same as during normal drain and all the settings are the same as well. Rebooting fixes this but normally it's after a couple of hours and I've already lost a huge chunk of battery. My concerns being: - compcache - proximity sensor - swap - signal bug (sometimes the phone may not switch between 2g/3g or if it goes to sleep while switching it may have no signal at all) - probably some other issues as well... Discuss  P.S. Proximity sensor is awfully sensitive to grease, dirt and stuff. Try a program that shows the information from it and then try blowing into the earpiece of the phone and wiping the top of the screen and see the change for yourself. (sometimes this is the reason that the screen does not come back after call btw)
Guest fear_factory84 Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 - compcache drains a lot of battery. I don't use it on my a1 - proximity sensor acer's froyo using libs from eclair works, and it's disabled after use. Perhaps drains battery when in use. I've disabled it. - swap less battery drain than compcache, but still more battery drain if enabled - signal bug (sometimes the phone may not switch between 2g/3g or if it goes to sleep while switching it may have no signal at all) if you know how to solve it.........

It seems that after charging the phone I have to do a reboot or the battery drain is a lot bigger than it should be. After reboot battery drain is ok. Easy fix, but I'd rather not having to reboot after every charge.

From my experience (disabling proximity, setting only 2G, only ROM apps, no "special" ROM features enable, which means I leave it like I install it) Acer Official spends less battery (yes less functions and slower). Why? No idea...perhaps it leaves the microSD card always powered on? If I charge completely and leave the phone on (2G, on standby), in 8h (while I sleep): - most Acer ROMs (Froyo) spend 1-2% - most custom Froyo ROMs spend 5-7% For example, with latest Acer ROM I used to use boot my phone (from a full charge) + write a pair of SMS + turn the WIFI ON to see if I have any mail and exit and battery remained on 100%, and battery constantely allowed me to charge "only" 2 days. With latest T&L Froyo with same setup, I see 97-98% of battery (instead 100%) and battery can´t last more than 1.5 days. I tried to change for other custom (Froyo) ROMs and I have the same problem. I returned to Acer and it lasts longer. I am on T&L again because it´s faster and I like the optimizations but...I would like to see at least the same battery. EDIT: the same occurs (in less extend of course) if I leave the phone on the Offline mode, it always seem to spend more on custom ROMs. Edited May 27, 2011 by mmick
Guest Auxx Posted May 29, 2011 Report Posted May 29, 2011 I had a lot of problems with my battery lately and nothing helped. Then I noticed that System Monitor app tells me I'm charging with USB when I'm on AC. I tried replugging a few times until it showed AC as it should and battery charged properly. So now I always check sysmon when I plug my AC and replug as needed and I don't have drain problems anymore.
