Guest Paul [MVP] Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 I heard this too, altho I heard the price was set at 249.99... P
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 Are Orange just shooting themselves in the foot? They can't handle the SPV on tech support, let alone having yet another high tech phone like the P800.
Guest Big Ron - No Longer a Mem Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 And, according to an update at Opera's website (see my previous post!) the new phone will be running Opera as standard. So, users get Java, Flash, and access to every site on the net (albeit in a somewhat "tweaked" format!) This site is addictive. I don't own an SPV, I don't field support calls from people who own them any more. So why the hell am I still here?!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 Because it's one hell of a site :) thanks to all the members who contribute here. And we are getting near 3000 members  not bad seeing that we have only been here since November (end of november when word of this site got out)
Guest Mark Posted February 12, 2003 Report Posted February 12, 2003 Must have a play with the P800 when they come in to store. Orange retail were told that it would be this week but they haven't confirmed it as Friday yet. Probably the bigger stores will get them first, just like the SPV!
Guest Gorskar Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 Looks sweet, but at £250+ theres no way I could afford one. Im glad I got my spv + it has the advantage of fitting in a pocket!
Guest karmapolice Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 Any idea of the upgrade price? Iam due an upgrade in 2 weeks :-)
Guest amo Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 Upgrade price will be likely to be set at £299.99
Guest karmapolice Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 Ouch !! too much for me... Maybe the SPV will come down now the p800 is nearly here..

Guest davem1919 Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 The P800 is now advertised as "coming soon" on the Orange website priced at £299.00 plus the new Nokia 6100 Cant Wait going to have both P800 & SPV Davem1919 :)
Guest Speedy Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 When yall run of to get your p800 please dont leave us here all alone, all of us still studying who cannot aford such a thing!!!
Guest pupton Posted February 13, 2003 Report Posted February 13, 2003 Just had a conversation with an Orange business manager and he said that the p800 should be with the retail chain for the 22nd of Feb.
Guest Rob.P Posted February 14, 2003 Report Posted February 14, 2003 According to the website, the P800 is the first phone to support video playback, the phone hasn't even been released yet and already they are lying.
Guest Bouger Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 Have any of u actually seeen and played with one ????. If u like carring a brick in your pocket (i'm talkin bigger than 7650) than fine. I had a chance to play with one recently and it offers nothing new over the SPV. SPV rules ................... Find your own forum P800....... :)
Guest bibon Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 I had a chance to play with one recently and it offers nothing new over the SPV... It is much more stable.. believe me  and it supports also Bluetooth which -for me- is very important.
Guest xanadu Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 I don't know what all the excitement is about.... The P800 is too big, too expensive, and it's made by Sony/Ericsson :) Enough to put anyone off ;)
Guest amo Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 What exactly is wrong with sony? A little over priced but very high build quality!
Guest Firaas Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 Sony and SonyEricsson are two different things :) SonyEricsson and Sony mobile phone products are considerably less quality than other Sony products
Guest casper508 Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 According to the website, the P800 is the first phone to support video playback, the phone hasn't even been released yet and already they are lying. It was supposed to be the first when a release was planned last sept but it got delayed. Hence the SPV beat it. So I guess they haven't changed the details on the site ever since. Cas
Guest bibon Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 I don't know what all the excitement is about.... The P800 is too big, too expensive, and it's made by Sony/Ericsson :) Enough to put anyone off ;) Yes it is expensive but it is better also (see battery life, stability, signal, bluetooth, processor speed, screen size etc). Let's be honest guys. The SPV is cheaper and much more beautiful but the P800 works a lot better...
Guest Gorskar Posted February 15, 2003 Report Posted February 15, 2003 Yep, true. Theres no denying that the p800 has more features, but it costs more. If you want the pen input etc etc, then buy the p800 If however you don't want to spend so much money, and want a more phone proportioned device then SPV is the one to go for. My SPV is an amazing phone, and I am very happy with it, but If I had been offered a p800 at the same price (ie free on contract) then I might have gone for that instead. As I know that isnt going to happen I believe the SPV to offer better value for money, although others may think the p800 worth the extra money. Its a personal choice. They are two different products, in two different price brackets and as such cannot be directly compared. They have some similarities, but some large differences also.
Guest HelloDave Posted February 16, 2003 Report Posted February 16, 2003 Ahhh, I can see so many "P800's better than the SPV", "No it isn't, P800's suck" type threads coming our way in the next few weeks... :) To be honest, I prefer the SPV because I own one - it's as simple as that! If I owned a P800 I'd probably say that was better, and that's true with me for a lot of things - I prefer Beta over VHS and say Athlons are better than Pentiums because I happen to have/have had one! Whatever you own you tend to be biased towards IMO. On a seperate subject, what happened to the P800 forum? Have I just got the wrong address or is www.modaco.com/p800 down at the moment?
