Guest Paul Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 If you have (or will have) a keyboard dock, you'll probably have to update the keyboard dock firmware. It's a bit scary, so I thought i'd post my experience here! I've updated my keyboard dock from 207 to 209 firmware, which fixes the 'disconnect issues'. This update is included in UK release .12, US release .13 and MoDaCo release Hr5. I updated using MCR Hr5 (which is based on US release .13). So here's what to expect...When you boot with a ROM containing a firmware update, a notification will appear in the system trayWhen you click the notification, you will be told the update will take 1 minute and not to unplug the device etc. etc. When you OK this, the device will appear to freezeThe device will stay in this state (screen on, frozen) for at least 1 minute, mine was like this for nearer 2 minutesWhen the update is complete, the screen appears to then switch offAt this point I *tapped* the power button (a little wearily) and the device was back to life. It hadn't rebooted. The Settings -> About menu still showed keyboard dock version 207, until I rebooted. I applied the update with the power cable plugged into the mains and the dock (not the tablet itself), on about 37% battery. P

That implies the HR5 is around the corner right? :) Rick
Guest Highland3r Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 Probably talking crap/imagining things, but does the caps lock LED not light up/blink during the update process also?

Guest Paul Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 I clearly wasn't watching closely enough. P
Guest dredge999 Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 Hoping this release fixes my continuing dock issues. Even with the dock flash, running Prime 1.3 ROM I still lose the mouse within 15-20 minutes on average. I have reverted to just not using the mouse. Several other Prime users are reporting same. (I only loaded Prime 1.3 to see if the dock would be fixed and alas, it isn't). Here's to hoping! Rick
Guest Karucifer Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 (edited) So one thing I've noticed is that the disconnects seem to occur as the tablet completes charging from the dock battery. Yesterday the dock worked fine til my tablet battery hit 100%, then I had a series of sporadic connections, most of which were so brief I couldn't enter complete lines of text. Today I walked in with battery and dock, started at 75% and worked fine again until the battery seemed to be approaching if not at 100%. The disconnects seem to take a couple of forms, either just locking the dock inputs out, or intermittently disconnecting and toggling the 'disable wifi' button, knocking me offline too. I did also notice that on more than one occasion the tablet battery reported as ? when connected to the dock during one of the failures. Is this akin to the mophie issue from a couple of years back? Is the dock being totally disconnected as the battery completes charging from it, rather than just dropping the power? If so, the safest dock upgrade procedure would be to ensure the tablet isn't fully charged but that both are 50% or higher. Edited May 17, 2011 by Karucifer
Guest stuntdouble Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 (edited) Two points really. The first is there isnt actually a UK .12 firmware released to the public, it was a limited beta release (but yes it's been passed around, so only for people who have rooted), and secondly how did it show you much power the dock had before you updated please? Is it an icon in the toolbar? Edited May 17, 2011 by stuntdouble
Guest blondejon Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 Hr5 online. P thanks paul, tablet and dock updated without issue, in fact this is the first thing ive typed with the dock and all seems well
Guest Scottland Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 My dock turned up today, so I'll update to Hr5 shortly.
Guest Mr.Clark Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 If you update to Hr5 now, will it automatically update the dock when it arrives, or should I hold off on the update until I have the dock?
