Guest Sand0r Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 Sup guyszzz So I have te Zte blade, I'm wanting to upgrade it to froyo but still have some questions, i'm going to follow this guide: http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...or-gen2-device/ It's doesn't look that difficult in the thread, but still have a few questions, I read that the md5 sums has to be the same, but for what files? The recoveryclockwork file and swedish spring file? How long does this COMPLETE process take? The steps to take are installing astro file manager, then you root the phone, then what? Install clockwork, choose clockwork img and then update the firmware with swedish spring? Am i correct? greetings, total newbie

Am i correct? greetings, total newbie First step is to check what version of phone you have - download "mr pigfish" app from market. This will tell you if you have a gen1 or gen2 memory layout on your phone. If its gen 2 then the guide you have is fine. If gen 1 then you need the gen 1 guide : http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...-the-zte-blade/ this first step is important as it may brick your phone if you flash a gen2 rom on a gen1 phone or vice versa. whole process should take less than an hour, but make sure to follow all steps, and make a full backup of your system before you start. Am i correct? greetings, total newbie for each file, they are having their own md5 sums, which means you need to make sure the md5sums provided is the same as the md5sums of the files that you download(check it using astro manager). for the steps, 1. root your phone using Universal androot 2. install recovery manager 3. install clockwork from recovery manager by choosing the clockwork image file! remember, make sure your md5sums matched! 4. flash custom ROM for your phone! (ROM that you are able to flash depends on whether your phone is GEN1 or GEN2) and a gentle reminder, the 1st boot up after you flash your phone will be slightly longer than usual(just the first boot up  ) it is a normal situation, don't panic, have a cup a coffee and wait. =)

How do I make a full back up of the phone? Using recovery manager? Also, in the guide thread they say use Z4root, so i'm going to use this one, does this rootapp also give superuser? Or do i need to download another app to get superuser rights?? Edited May 18, 2011 by Sand0r

Guest curl66 Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 easiest wayto upgrade your phone is TPT method. there is a pinned topic about it how to flash CM7 : [GEN1&GEN2][ROM]CM 7.0.2stable + Nxx TPT Image for easy Install
Guest shad0wboss Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Mate, if you're scared, you won't be able to accomplish ANYTHING in your life...you have to think smart and don't do silly things or forget a step and you'll just be fine flashing custom roms...believe in yourself !
Guest Sand0r Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 I'm going to do it, no worries. I just had to doublecheck it. that's all. I'll do it this saturday, will keep you guys informed. :P
Guest mitchgixer6 Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 Go for it, you'll not look back once you do it the first time. Plus you'll wonder why you ever worried about it! As the guys say just make sure you check with Mr Pigfish first, then follow all the steps in order and you can't go wrong. I was like you when I got my phone at first, but it's not really that hard a process. You just have to take time and make sure it's done properly. You won't believe the improvements on your phone once you flash a new ROM. I can recommend any of the 2.2 ROMS to try first. Good luck!
Guest Sand0r Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 ok, got a little problem, i'm trying to look at the md5 sum for swedish spring, using astro file manager, but it keeps saying data loading... Does this take a couple of minutes?
Guest Psyloid Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 if you live in antwerp i could help you, have already done several blades
Guest Sand0r Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 (edited) if you live in antwerp i could help you, have already done several blades I'm from limburg, do you got msn or something where we can talk? above problem is solved, all the md5 sums match. But when i try to instal the clockwork image in recovery manager it says that the image is unrecognized. I tried manager 0.34b and 0.36b both give the same problem. Tried redownloading the file, but it keeps the same. My blade is a gen1 so i used the gen1 guide, i took the 3rd image from the bottom out of this list, i guess it's the correct one? http://android.podtwo.com/recovery.php?device=blade Edited May 20, 2011 by Sand0r
Guest Sand0r Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 I used an older clockwork image and that worked perfect. i think it was the 3.0.2.8 version, i used this link: http://android.podtwo.com/recovery/archived/
