Hi to all you adventurous Vega people out there who are struggling to understand what other people have written to help others like us get out of a mess.

There’s nothing like jumping in with both feet only to find you can’t swim..?

Now I’m like most of you who struggle when theres a problem, however as it has be emphasised by many others several times. We need to read and read, and then eventually it starts to make sense.

Here’s what I do, it works every time, First be confident in restoring the stock rom 1.09, this is easy to put things back to where it was. I’ve now resolved 11 of my friends Vega’s when they believed they have killed it.

Its this power off hold the button for at least 10 seconds to get the black screen, then hold down the back button, that’s the one to the far right on top, hold this down, and count 1 and 2, then hold power button down, count 1 and 2, let go of the power button while continuing to hold down the back button, count 1 and 2, let go of the back button, the chances are you are in recovery mode. If you pc doesn’t respond with a sound try inserting the USB lead into another USB port, you should then hear a sound to indicate new hardware found, click on your stock 1.09 .exe file, what the screen if it reports an error device not found then you have not installed the correct drivers. Following instructions that’s been shown many time on driver installation issues.

Let’s now assume you have installed the stock rom back to the original settings when you opened the box.

Now get your ROM this is a .ZIPfile ROM from you PC, copy this to the Vega in a directory of your choice. I put mine in a directory/folder called rom recovery. This is assuming you have the basic knowledge on creating a folder, if not the drop the ROM.ZIP in the root of you Vega SDCARD

I personally then install “clockwork_recovery_3.0.2.4_vega_donotflashthis, just press windows install bat file” search for this on these forums, first you have to boot the Vega once restored to manufacture settings 1.09 rom, go to settings, applications, development, then select USB bugging “green tick”, if all is correct get the Windows_install.bat file within “clockwork_recovery_3.0.2.4_vega_donotflashthis, just press windows install bat file” it will then load the recovery software, then you can see a recovery icon in the icon menu when you pressed settings icon from main screen.

Press the recovery icon to put the Vega into software recovery mode, your Vega will then boot to a dos like window to display;

Reboot system now

Apply update from sdcard

Wipe data/factory reset

Wipe cache

Backup and restore

Mounts and storage

Advanced

Power off

This is what I do, and it never fails, ever, ever, ever, ever ….lol

Use volume up and down to move the highlighted bar to select the right line.

First I wipe data/factory, Then wipe cache partition

highlight this and press power.

Do the above to select the next step, highlight and press power

Then I wipe cache patition

Then I went to the advanced menu, press power once to get to that advanced menu.

Then you will see:

Reboot recovery

Wipe dalvik cache

Wipe battery stats

Report error

Key test

Patition sdcard

Fix permissions

I then wipe dalvik cache

I then wipe battery stats.

If there was another line with the word wipe on it, I would wipe that as well ..haha

We are now ready to install the new rom of our choice, do not worry if the rom goes’ tits up ..lol following the above and try another one.

Ok we can assume you have the ROM.ZIP on you sd card in a directory/ folder called “rom recovery”

Press back to take your clockwork menu back to first menu.

Move the highlight bar down to install zip form sdcard using volume button

Press power button

You will then see another menu.

Apply /sdcard /update,zip , his

Choose zip from sdcard

Toggle signature verification

Toggle script asserts

Apply /sdcard /update,zip , this assumes your new rom is in the root directory with a name update.zip, However mine isn’t

Highlight Choose zip from sdcard

Press power button, the highlight you folder that’s holding the Rom to be flashed in side. mine is in “rom recovery” then select your ROM, press power, and hey presto, its flashing your new rom, once it has finished, press reboot system now.

If all is well, you have completed your task, it it’s not working, then read this again

Hope it helps with the basics, if you struggle with drivers, then search this forum for AUDI; this is a fantastic little piece of software to install drivers.

I would like to end and thanks all those with knowledge and the devs who have made this all possible, big ups to you guys, not fogretting this forum, its the best :)

Cheers

Do you mean this: http://android.modaco.com/content/advent-v...asy-install-v2/

As search for the above returns nothing.

Edit - should say that this is an excellent guide - I got vegacomb running now!

Minor point, after flashing, you have to click back once to get to the menu to reboot.
