Guest ZTE Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Hi folks, I've tried searching for this but had no luck. What I'd like to know is if it's possible to check that a Clockwork Nandroid backup will work without actually doing it? Hope you understand what I mean. I've had them fail in the past, I think, because I've slightly modified the custom theme. Thanks for any help. Cheers :)
Guest KonstaT Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 I'm not quite sure what you ment. You can verify your nandroid backup using for example AFV (android file verifier) from market. Check /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/[your-backup]/nandroid.md5. Clockwork won't restore your backup if there is some sort of md5 mismatch.

Thanks for the suggestion Konsta, but will this verify that the backup will actually restore correctly? The problem is that I have changed some of the icons in one of Frankish's 'signed' themes. I believe this can cause a Nandroid backup to fail when trying to restore. What I have done is revert back to the unmodified theme and then do a backup. I just wanted to make sure the backup was OK before wiping the phone to change ROMs. It's all a bit anal I know, but if I don't get on with the new ROM I want to go back to the previous one without any hassle. Get it? Cheers :P

You can use your custom icons if you resign the apk with the test key after modifying it. signapktic available on android market should be able to do that.
Guest ZTE Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 Thanks wbaw, I had a feeling there was no way to check. Shame :P I'll take a look at the signapktic app. Cheers
