Guest KenBW2 Posted May 18, 2011 Report Posted May 18, 2011 (edited) Yesterday my Blade suddenly ground to a halt while typing a text. I remedied this by minimising to the home screen (I might have killed of Messages, I can't remember). I carried on typing the text and sent it off. I noticed a few minutes later it hadn't sent, and then noticed it shows no signal. The signal bar shows as the grey signal bars with an x at the top-left, and it's reporting "3 Hutchison is unavailable". Searching for available networks brings up a list of other available networks. Of course, I can't choose one of them with my 3 sim. Putting the sim card in my old Pulse works fine (I'm using the Pulse to share wifi to the Blade for the time being). Also, putting both a 3 and Orange sim in the Blade displays the same no connection behaviour as the original one. This situation persists across reboots, I've checked the APN. Flashing a new rom (CM7) 'fixes' the problem, but the problem is still present when I restore my nandroid backup. tl;dr My phone's ability to get a mobile signal is broken on a software level and I don't want to flash a new rom and start again. Any ideas what could be wrong, and how to fix it? Edited May 18, 2011 by KenBW2
Guest Pondlife Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 Seems a very odd problem at least it is only software though. As you've a full back up anyway, you could try putting the same rom over the top of the install without wiping the data etc, as hopefully it wouldn't remove anything you want to keep but with some luck could replace whatever offending file(s) are causing the problem. Easy enough to go back if it doesn't help anyway.
Guest KenBW2 Posted May 21, 2011 Report Posted May 21, 2011 Found what was wrong. Somehow it's enabled "Use only 2G networks". D'oh!
