Guest henisen Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 Just want to let you guys know. For some strange reason my Vega's screen start to leak ink in the bottom center of the screen after having it for only five months. Took it to PC world only to find out that it is not covered under the 12 month warranty as it is classified as "accidental" damage. Can be repaired but you have to pay £50 non-refundable upfront and then for the repair which god knows how much that will be. To me not worth it seeing that you can get a brand new one for £199. Anybody else had this problem?

Anybody else had this problem? Leak ink? That's news to me and I'm pretty sure to everyone here as that problem has not been mentioned here or anywhere before. I would like to see a picture of that. Are the icons getting black and white now? Joke :P Edited May 19, 2011 by carl rose

While in store they where on the phone with, I assume the manufacturer and where told the accidental damage story. Please find photo as requested.
Guest gingercat Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 (edited) DO NOT accept them making you pay for repair, it is clearly a manufacturing/design fault. If they insist on you paying for repair, politely tell them you will contact your local trading standards to resolve the issue. Edited May 19, 2011 by gingercat
Guest Minimonkey Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 Sales of goods act 1979 is your friend
Guest CoWPlagued Posted May 19, 2011 Report Posted May 19, 2011 I'd have to side with pcworld on this one, it looks exactly like damage to me. Yes it could be a manufacturing issue, but i have a whole box full of broken lcd's that ive replaced and they dont always crack, they can bleed exactly as yours has if someone say sits on them on a soft surface like a sofa. I'm in no way saying you are lying, but ive seen "damage" identical to that. Are you sure no one has trodden, sat, dropped it and not told you?

Further to this, do you have any children/a clumsy other half? It does look like physical damage, if you can completely rule out anyone doing something silly with it, then yes, I guess it is a warranty issue that needs pursuing. Never seen or heard of an LCD doing that without physical damage though, but I guess that doesn't mean its impossible
Guest tony barnes Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 Oh, if you do write it off, you could try selling the spare parts - there is someone on here after a battery IIRC after dismantling his
Guest SmileyMan73 Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 (edited) Sale of Goods Act... First 6 months it is down to the supplier to PROVE it is accident damage and PROVE it is not a manufacturing defect. Did the get an expert to test it?.... no... Go back and demand resolution. If they declare it Accident Damage ask for the inspection report. Some Guy in the shop or on the phone is not acceptable. If there is damage to the casing near the fault don't expect result in your favour.... Edited May 20, 2011 by SmileyMan73
Guest bojjob Posted May 20, 2011 Report Posted May 20, 2011 Completely off topic but what browser is that???? And im with the complaining, call up customer service before you go back instore maybe? get them to declare it a code5?

Guest henisen Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 Any luck henisen? I'm turned off from the Vega now. So I'm just going to save some money to get the Acer Iconia or Transformer. For the person that ask about the browser it's actually Maxthon browser.
Guest peter a Posted May 22, 2011 Report Posted May 22, 2011 the only time i've had a lcd screen leak was due to heat.
Guest Vega Tech Posted June 30, 2011 Report Posted June 30, 2011 God some folks are daft. This screen has been damaged and not covered plain and simple.
Guest Keith W Posted June 30, 2011 Report Posted June 30, 2011 ....... they can bleed exactly as yours has if someone say sits on them on a soft surface like a sofa. This. As soon as I saw the picture my first thought was someone has sat on it
Guest winnipeg Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 I don’t know about now, but someone told me in the past that the stuff inside the LCD is nasty stuff and possibly a carcinogen. I think be careful and get more information if you keep it.
Guest Wonega Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 the only time i've had a lcd screen leak was due to heat. Strangely enough, that is exactly the area that gets very warm when I use my Vega. Would be very suprised that they can alledge accidental damage if there is no physical damage to the area.
