Optimus 2X near a magnet starts Car Home

Hi all!

First of all, what a great forum to find fixes for my lovely Optimus 2x. Have been a reader for a long time, but now was the time ready to register :P

I have noticed on both the Optimus One (P500) and the Optimus 2X (P990) that when I place my phones near a magnet the Car Home application starts.

And when I received my Car Cradle (SCS-410) I can see that this one has a magnet on it aswell so it starts the Car Home application.

But that application is rubbish, and what I would like to find out is how could I replace the strings that starts carhome when the phone is in contact with a magnet?

I use Navigon on my device and it had been smooth to start Navigon instead of Car Home.

Can someone point me in the right direction to were to look for this?

Yeah, would be nice to know if you could replace the app that is starting, as CarHome was the first thing I always uninstall when getting a new ROM

I don't see this as an option, but you might be able to 'hack it in'...

Hmm, do you know Paul if the CarHome app is detecting the field on it's own or if the trigger is fired by the OS?

Of what I can see, the CarHome is triggered by default on other brands aswell. So it most likely to be OS triggered?

Not a problem but feature.

Purpose of that is when you buy original car cradle for your P990 it has a magnet that will launch car home when phone is inserted.

P990 has a hall switch near SDCard slot that will be activated by the magnet from your car cradle ir any other magnets.

If that is annoying for you you can delete car home as there is no option in the menu. Unfortunately.

I have recently bough an genuine lg car holder, unfortunately carhome nor lg carhome is not starting while inserting the phone to the cradle.

But you didn't remove the app, did you? As I said, removing it is the first thing for me as I don't need this app and it is told that this app is a massive battery killer, even if not started it runs in background (maybe checking if a magnet is near?)
