Hi all,

Promise I've had a good look through this forum for solutions, as well as talking to a couple of mates who know a fair bit about ROM customisation, before posting this.

My Orange San Francisco white arrived yesteryday. Pigfish informed it was Gen 1. Followed curl66's topic http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blad...r-easy-install/ to move to Gen2 and CM. The green writing appeared as it should, images loaded etc then phone rebooted, got to green android splash screen and hung there. Only thing I could do was to remove the battery. I have tried rebooting, tried another SD card, nothing helps.

I did once manage to boot the phone into CM7 apparently in "safe mode" which was written in the corner of the screen, but I don't know what buttons did this exactly. Again after searching online, suggestions are that Android devices boot into safe mode if you hold the menu key whilst powering on - this doesn't work.

I can get into clockworkmod so have tried re-installing different ROMS from there. Unfortunately I have no way of checking whether the phone is now Gen1 or Gen2. BUT curl66 states that the TPT should not start if the phone is gen2 - however I have now run that TPT several times, it starts and appears to complete successfully every time but the problem persists.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Paddy

Have you tried a different TPT? The one you downloaded might have got corrupted somehow.

Don't worry about trying to install a gen1 rom on a gen2 handset, you won't brick it or anything, it will simply fail to boot or fail to install. It might be worth trying a bunch of different roms of both gens to see if you can get anything to boot.

Interestingly, back when my Blade was gen1 it would often fail to boot into CM7. 9 out of 10 times it would just hang on the splash screen, it was incredibly annoying. This only happened with CM7, I tested with SS and it was fine. I haven't had a single problem since TPTing to gen2 though

How long did you wait the first boot can be rather long?

Try Swedish Spring as it can be installed on either generation.

TPT will start on a phone that has been TPT changed to gen 2 just not on an originally gen 2 phone.

I purchased a white Blade (Orange San Fran) ending in B10 this week , i rooted with zroot, installed busybox from market, installed recovery manager from the post here then installed gen1 recovery image recovery-clockwork-3.0.2.8-blade-gen1 using fastboot method (vol up botton + power wait for green android) rebooted into recovery backed up orange bloat firmware then installed SS RLS5 no problems here , not used TPT method on it yet may try later.

Maybe try JJ TPT this will restore to Gen1 i belive.

now your phone is GEN2(with TPT ability)

just try if you can go into clockwork (power on + volume up)

there can be the problem that your touchscreen doesnt get recocniced properly by CM7.

i remeber that the original zte kernel support 3 diffirent touchscreens.

so try SS5. you can do the TPT.

if this works try a CM7 stable TPT or via clockwork. if touchscreen dont respond report it as an issue at CM forums or to jacob here on this board. so he can add support this kind of touchscreen to CM7

N80 and stable 7.0.3 and copy it on SD-card

to be sure go into clockwork, format system, do full wipe

flash 7.03 , nothing else. reboot.
