So basically, everyday i'm finding bad parts about zte blade...i thought it was a good phone and cheap one price wise but now i've started to realise that it's a cheap phone so it's got to have some cheap parts used in it....

So far i found out that the headphones with 3 black strips on them don't work...the ones with 2 black strips work on their jack (such as the stock one which comes in the box). Is there a solution to this? a converter? anything which can help me defy this problem for now?

Standard stereo headphones work just fine.

Just thought I might add another issue: The microphone quality is frankly appalling, and workarounds?

Perhaps you should read the user guide that came with your phone?

Anil.

Work arounds?

Spend 4 times as much.

This sounds like a terrifically minor problem. It's a normal stereo jack socket and it takes a normal stereo headset. As a speakerphone the Blade has a microphone sensitive enough to pick up normal conversational speech at hands-free distance. The headset permits a degree of privacy, particularly when listening to music, and also functions as an aerial for the FM radio.

I wonder if your problem has arisen from an attempt to plug in a hands-free headset from another telephone.

It depends what's sampling the microphone. The stock android camcorder app only samples it at 8000Hz (telephone quality), but other apps are able to user a higher samplerate.

What do you mean by sample rate, so if I get a better app I should have better sound quality

When buying a headset, what should i look at in order to make it work for the blade?

Ive use the sound recorder and camcorder to record videos, playing the piano etc. and on viewing them the sound quality is poor, and even in calls the sound quality is not really that great, picks up alot of static noise, so that led me to believe the microphone quality is very cheap.

Poor start.....which ROM? There was a bug in some CM7 with loads of white noise in the background during calls.

That's got me intrigued, what do the buttons do? Might have to dig mine out.

Im running CM7 n80, it seems that the microphone can only really pick up human voices, any other sound frequencies (e.g. piano/music) are extremely poor, having said that the white noise is always present.

@shadowboss, sorry for hijaking your thread the NOKIA AD-57 headset works great apparently.

Not really possible unless you find a full specification sheet on the connector (which usually isn't available), the 3 stripes on the jack are switched IIRC i.e. each strip does something different compared to the iPhone jack.

Look at the link I originally posted and the post above, read the thread to find something useful.
